Ivy or not, for what it's worth, I'd exchange a dozen vintage American jackets for a couple more Loro Piana wool and cashmere. The words 'Made In Italy' are almost as gladdening as 'Made In The USA'.
The year is the same,1954.
To the left a Brooks Brothers suit,to the right a Rubinacci suit.
Ok,one is undarted the other darted...but..

I really do not mind a darted jacket too much.
Plenty of glimpses of italian soft shoulders and sunglasses here:

Great video! Is the Police anniversary of 1959,at Piazza di Siena in Villa Borghese at Rome.
I see the former President of Republic Giovanni Gronchi.
Beautiful times!!! Ah nostalgia!
You're that old, Carpu?
No,but in these days all in Italy have nostalgia for 50s and 60s.
The future was so bright in that time.
I was just wondering.
It's still there... That old Italian look is the new Italian look, I think.
I really like this look, despite the pleats and the rather low rise on his trousers:
Although for the (slightly inflexible?) Spectre, this must be horrible, I assume. Especially with that awfully wide knit tie and the spread collar....
