Just looking at the pictures of that Linen suit and reading the History of it has made my night, TJ.
I hope whoever buys it truly appreciates it, wears it (at least occasionally) and doesn't shut it away.
Museum quality or not, that suit deserves to be worn.
Can someone lend me, £640.77 please? I wonder if that is the type of suit GIZ would be interested in?
Now that is my kind of suit. Even allowing that I have lost over thirty pounds I could not fit into it. I would give it to the MFIT anyway as I would only get sauce on it. I do know Zach has been after a white linen suit for a long while.

Would that suit have been worn with a decent break in the trousers? What was the style at the time GIZ, Bop?
I think the style was without a break, or a very small break, the only person I really have any knowledge of during the 30's is Jack Dempsey, who was dressed at BB, and that is how he typically had his slacks. But that's one man, a very well dressed man mind.
I have messaged you on Etsy Mr Typhoid.
Going from photos in Southeast Asia the break is slightly higher than now but there were certainly few proper footpaths outside the cities and even in the 1980s they could be covered in mud and other material from heavy rains. I would suggest just above the natural line of a shoe but how long is a piece of string?
^^^ I would also imagine that there would be little to no break for practical purposes. White (or any "light" colored trousers for that matter) would end up looking dingy if they were allowed to drag around on the ground.

I too an a great fan of thrift store shopping. My only disadvantage is that my size is a 48R, which limits me when it comes to vintage suits from the '40s, '50s, and '60s especially. Neckties from the mid-'40s to mid-'50s "Bold Look" era I have found in abundance, with my current collection numbering well over 100 from the period.
^^^ Nice tie collection! I´ve always enjoyed picking up ties for myself and have built up quite a number as well. It is somewhat difficult to find true vintage pieces in your size range, however, you might consider more contemporary secondhand items (1980s) from both J. Press & the Andover shop. The styling details were not all that different in general. I currently have (but have not managed to add) a few great items from the Andover shop in the 46 - 50 range. I´ll look into it when I get back to town and send you a PM with more information if you´re interested.
Thanks for your interest!
