Re: Countdown (1968)

It's pretty obvious where the skinheads got their ideas from isn't it?

Re: Countdown (1968)

I managed ten minutes of it before growing bored - in spite of Robert Duvall, who was one of my favourite actors.  Hewitt seems fond of it, though, ha ha.

Definitely better than the later TV series.

Re: Countdown (1968)

I've never seen this but man those are some nice shots. And the iceing on the cake-that Mustang. It's never on cable, I'll price it on Amazon. One thing Woolster, you mentioned haircuts, Duval is bald and I do believe James Caan is wearing a toupee.

Also Woolster, could you do this for "Lilies Of The Field" with Sidney Poiter sometime.

Re: Countdown (1968)

Haven't seen this film in years so can't comment on it as a piece of work, however I do want to say thanks Woolster for the pics, stirling work.

P47 comments on Skin's seem bang on.

I now find myself looking at all the older characters and what they are wearing, as I age. Its like the Take Ivy book, the best pics are the older guys shot on Madison Avenue not the teens at college.

Ivy for everyone! as someone used to say, inc the older man.

Re: Countdown (1968)

My memory may be hazy, but didn't Hewitt say something about them wearing sta-prest?

Yeah, it all looks very poly. Even Caans sta prest hair.

Great shots. I'll make sure and seek the film out.

Re: Countdown (1968)

Are you sure thats a toupe on Caan? He seems to have quite wavy/curly hair and isn't it just his hair cut short and left longer on top with maybe some pomade in it and combed forward. A bit of an "Ernie Wise".

Re: Countdown (1968)

Hmm... I think SMF is right. It's quite obvious in the Godfather and there's only four years between those two films.

When I go bald, I'll get myself a sta-prest hair.

Ah.  We have a DVD/VHS combi.  Not bad.  About £99 three years ago.  You can't get everything you might want on disc.

Re: Countdown (1968)

Where can I find a sta-press wig like James Caan wears? That'd do me nicely. Does Newton Street Vintage carry them?

Re: Countdown (1968)

Hmmm, Caan went bald from the front back, a receding hairline job. I think its being combed forward to hide that, but I still think that might be his own hair: pics 5, 9 & 11 seem to show that to me. Though 5 is also a good argument for a toupe I must admit, but I think it was a bad hair day.
