I quite agree but there is a brand of humour which embraces too a warmth and forgiveness, perfectly exemplified by 'Brahn Boots at A Funeral' (he wore brahn boots because he'd given his black ones away), that seems to be increasingly beyond the quick-fire mockery of the modern world. All the best sit-coms that I recall from 'Dad's Army' to 'Only Fools and Horses', mixed in some warmth and forgiveness and reminded us, in a more rounded way, of our shared human condition.

I sympathise with the working class socialist, even though I don't agree with socialism I understand the [I believe mis-placed] attraction to them. I have no sympathy for the middle/upper class socialist however, who are just engaging in a power play.

I knew several at university, several are politicians now and each, to a man/woman, with the exception of one or two was a patronising c**t. Really fucking horrible people, smug, self-satisfied charlatans, puke inducing as someone else has already said.

One of my grandfathers was big in local politics and all of that, was the local mayor and served on the Council for forty years. He was a conviction politician, worked on the line at Vauxhall's and fought for money to be released for new playgrounds that were immediately vandalised by the local ruffians.

My inside knowledge allows me to speak with authority: politicians/councillors from all political parties are corrupt and it attracts the wrong sorts. At least in Western democracies, which explains much of our present unsavoury predicament.

The conservaties are as bad, but at least they indulge in kinky sex acts and will pay for their pleasures, which the Labour filth will never do.

Not really.

I generally find people of a conservative bent nicer to be honest and when I say conservative, I mean in the Burkean/Disraelian sense of the word not Thatcherite who was more a neo-liberal than a conservative IMO.

I've just got off Skyping my mum and my two nephews, well, it doesn't look good does it: go to university and be saddled with major debt. My recommendation was go out and get a job and take vocational qualifications. Of course, the Catch 22 is that there are not enough jobs, hence successive governments for nigh on twenty years have been encouraging everyone to go to university to keep the unemployment figures down, whilst adopting a ponzi scheme initiative on immigration.

There's not enough coke, whisky and liquid MDMA available to put in the zone of our decision makers.

Democracy has failed us, I hope what is going to follow will be better.

I am totally over this iGent crap about inventing imaginary Eternal Rules of Permanent Style that never existed. If some iGent on the other side of the world pops an aneurysm because of they don't approve of you wearing brown/black/suede/derbies/slip ons etc with a suit, tough titties for them. These notions exist only on the net perpetuated by iGents. Heck, I've done my bit to perpetuate them too! So I went out to research the historical basis for them - and found no such thing existed. In the end, it's all about forum group think, and attempts to raise personal taste to the status of Eternal Validity.

Funny how I think of chelsea boots going perfectly with mohair but I don't think of black chelsea boots as...black. I have a hard time picturing chelsea boots in brown.
