I do wonder whether it would improve the business if all the publicity pictures Rubinacci produce looked like that, demonstrating they could make normal suits, or whether they would lose business since most customers like the “edginess” of being fitted by someone dressed like a clown...

i know most of the guys here don't like him, but that suit is pretty much A1 spot-on: (guy in the middle, not the teenage boys playing miami vice meets granpa grouch on the left and right)

lf the 20 year old funny bunny paid for his own suit, then fair enough. Too young for fur on his face also...makes him look like a grubby old goon. 20 going on 40. He don't live in the real world. Will he ever get a girlfriend, or will they avoid him forever?

REal old tailoring. Collar looks wide like so many good suit names online. l wonder if it comes off his neck in various not-too-crazy positions, l reckon it's possible. Sleeves look well done.

As far as it goes, I think the tall guy has the best fitting jacket on. I think jacket on the guy in the middle has some weird proportions; it could be a fisheye camera lens effect, though.

You are probably correct. Notice how his suit collar sits around his shirt collar much better. l am no expert in this, but the guy in the middle look like his tailor has used a basic block technique to cut the suit (not a customized suit cut pattern) and has relied on `fitting' to try to get the block pattern to fit the client, but as usual it hasn't quite worked and we get the effect where the suit is not sitting nice and high on his neck, it looks like it wants to fall off his neck (wide cut collar). My tailor has shown me numerous examples of this type of work by so called worldclass names before and shows me how they all fail to stay on the neck even in not so stretched positions. lt shows very few tailors are capable of making a great suit because they have old school cutting skills using a block and don't know how to customize properly.

My tailor and l have done experiments on this subject so l know it's not bullshit, l have seen the proof. Very few tailors know how to cut a suit properly.

I do like him, the Cravate. Er hod an gewissen Schmäh and I usually like his clothes. I think he gets unfairly criticized on this forum, as he seems to have a very unassuming style and doesn't take himself to seriously. Im Gegensatz zum Küblböck, der in den Foren grundsätzlich wie ein besserwisserischer, altkluger Oarsch auftritt. But then, you know him personally, maybe he's just not very good with written words and comes off worse than he is.

And I guess we agree when I say, the less said about the fellow on the left, who managed to get conned by the Bespoke Consultant, the better

I do not get this argument. Who cares if he paid this suit himself, his parents did or some random beggar on the street gave it to him? For all that we know, the suit's price could be pocket change to his family. Great for them!

lt's not part of the argument. l brought it up because l know a bunch of us here don't like kids who don't pay for eally nice items. Kids get far too much these days without having worked for it. Kids need to learn to earn.

l hope he did pay for it himself by working for it. Makes better quality people because they are more humble and understand the value of the dollar much better.

Re: When bespoke works right

Whilst nosing about on old Sators forum I came across this:

http://forums.filmnoirbuff.com/uploads/413_linenblzrfrnt1.jpg

http://forums.filmnoirbuff.com/uploads/413_linenblzrshldsllpl.jpg

http://forums.filmnoirbuff.com/uploads/413_linenblzrbk.jpg

This has been cut by the tailor Davide Taub at Maurice Sedwell. He has also worked under Edward Sexton.

Compare with this Nutter cut by Sexton (one on the right)

http://forums.filmnoirbuff.com/uploads/413_tommy_nutter_womens_jacket.jpg

I shall be keeping an eye on this bloke...

There's enough rope there to hang one's self

Which is what I would do if I was forced to go out in public wearing a coat with a sleeve head like that

More rope than Sciamat! Davide Taub has an interesting blog - http://davidetaub.blogspot.com/ It has more photographs of that linen suit.

The quality of the cutting and tailoring is excellent. It appears that there is no Sedwell house style and the customer gets what he or she wants.

Sciamat is positively tame in comparison.

I could see wearing something like this if one was a bona fide rock star .....
