Re: Ivy Exchange

Vintage Gant for Eljo's. This was sold to me as a size small/medium, although it clearly states 17-35! On its way to the sales section, but I thought I'd put it here first, in case anyone's had similar experiences with sellers. I'm 15-33, but will concider anything up to 15.5-34.

Can't read the union stamp anymore, but it's a Durable Press/Poly Cotton jobbie. Well worn, but in good condition, apart from light discoloration on the collar.

Pit to pit 25"
Bottom of collar to hem 31.5"

Can't pm on the phone for some reason. I'm interested but have to get some other things first if it's still there in a week or so 'll have it. But don't hold it if others want it

Re: Ivy Exchange

Hello.  I recently went though my tie rack and have come up with a few ties that I would like to trade and thought might be of interest to somebody on the forum.

Looking for: A solid navy blue tie (no checks, no dots, no stripes, etc.) made from 100% wool or a wool / silk blend, or 100% silk suitable for interviews / conservative business dress (hopefully at least equal in quality to Michaelson's ties or vintage Harrod's department store brand ties).  Also interested in any 100% wool ties.

Here is what I have for trade in no particular order:

http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g432/Typhoid_Jones/P1040636.jpg

L-R: Green "Trimingham's BERMUDA," Navy Blue "Briggs Ltd. PROVIDENCE," Navy Blue "THE OLD NORTH CHURCH BOSTON, MASS.," Paisley & Stripes "John Douglas," & Red on Blue Floral "John Douglas."

http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g432/Typhoid_Jones/P1040637.jpg

Blue silhouette of the Island of Bermuda with an old-fashioned sailing ship on a green background.  Trimingham's BERMUDA was a classic menswear shop in Bermuda.  Lots of vintage sportswear, summerwear, and  tropical clothes with the Trad / Ivy aesthetic end up in Boston thrift stores and charity shops because Bostonians have been flying between Boston Logan International Airport to Bermuda's L.F. Wade International Airport since forever.

http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g432/Typhoid_Jones/P1040638.jpg

Magical Swamis on a navy blue background.  Briggs Ltd. was a classic menswear shop in Providence, Rhode Island.  I bought this tie in a vintage shop when my wife and I were there on a day trip.

Paul Revere riding past the Old North Church in Boston, MA - "The British are coming!"

http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g432/Typhoid_Jones/P1040640.jpg

John Douglas tie with paisleys and stripes pattern.

http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g432/Typhoid_Jones/P1040641.jpg

John Douglas tie with red on blue floral pattern.

THESE TIES ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION - NO DISCOLORATION, NO DAMAGE, NO SMELLS, ETC.

Re: Ivy Exchange

Anyone interested in some pale yellow and apricot colored summer chinos?

I bought them brand new from Brooks last month, had them hemmed to 30" and removed one or two small logo/brand embelleshings at the alterations tailor to make them completely spartan and stripped down, no frills.

Italian fit, Italian made. Continental cool in a lightweight cotton twill. Slim tapered cut with a 32" waist.

Here they are in both colors offered, both brand new and unworn, already altered accordingly for an ideal fit:

http://s7d4.scene7.com/is/image/BrooksBrothers/510R_APRICOT?$ProductImages$

I'm asking $150 for the both together, or $75/pair which is just under what I paid (minus shipping and the alterations costs).

They're the perfect fit and cut and would look real smart paired with a light popover or oxford bd and drivers with some dark shades for the summertime.

They're some of the best chinos I've seen. I don't really go for chinos unfortunately, and find the colors a bit strong, so I'm passing them on.

Triminghams, now there's a name. I have one of their ties, reversible to 4 different tartans. Interesting to learn the Bostonian connection.

Re. navy tie for businesswear, since you mention Michelsons you might want to consider a new tie directly from them. They run at about 10 GBP and postage is extremely low (max. GBP 1.50 worldwide).

Re: Ivy Exchange

Hi All!

I thought I'd post these up here for trade if anyone was interested.  I've heard that sometimes fellow members come across good English shirting and vintage tweed accessories in the thrift stores and charity shops in the UK and I hope that is the case.

I'm looking to exchange for Turnbull & Asser or Hilditch & Key shirts in any size so long as they are in good wearable condition.
Also, I'm interested in Harris Tweed or Donegal (Irish) Tweed items (ties, hats, other odds 'n' ends, but NOT jackets or sportcoats).

Bill's Khakis M2P 100% Cotton Khaki pants.  Marked 38.

http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g432/Typhoid_Jones/P1030359.jpg

http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g432/Typhoid_Jones/P1030361.jpg

Waist: 39 inches.
Rise: 12 inches.
Inseam: 28 1/4 inches.
Outseam: 39 inches.

These are in EXCELLENT condition.  The material is thick and not worn feeling.  It also still has quite a bit of stiffness to it.  They are pre-owned, but still have a lot of life left in them.  A solid 8-9 / 10.

PM me with any inquiries.

Thanks!  -M-

Two recent US arrivals. I thought I would take a punt at slightly larger size jackets than I would wear but, alas, it didn't work out.

Shoulder- 17 inches

Re: Ivy Exchange

Another jacket that is too big for me. I purchased this with a view to alter as it is something I have been dreaming about owning for a long time. The thing is I cannot justify such a thing when someone else could have it straight away without cutting it up!
Photo to follow - it was for sale on Etsy from the Ivy League Shop last month
1960's seersucker 3/2 sack jacket by University Graduate made in Japan. Size 38
The jacket is unstructured with very very soft shoulders.
chest is 20.25
shoulder - 17
Sleeve - 24.5
length-29

Re: Ivy Exchange

FC, are you looking to swap?

Last thing I need is another seerscker really, although the size is right on and I'd been eyeing it myself. Have two seersuckers already though, but if you wanted a pair of those sz. 32 Brooks summer chinos or something in exchange, I'd be glad to trade.

Me again..

Very nice Career Club Sage sport shirt

14.5 collar

see link for photos

http://fitzgeraldscloset.tumblr.com/pos … /exhibit-3

Rather upsetting but due to my chosen sport it has become a tad too tight for me. If anyone has a white OCBD in a 15.5 I will gladly swap/bargin/buy

Thanks

Re: Ivy Exchange

A bit of a long shot but I have a JSA light blue BD popover long sleeved shirt in a small (Excellent condition – worn twice) that I wouldn’t mind swapping for a medium. Anyone out there wanting to exchange?
Thanks, Richard

Re: Ivy Exchange

I have resurrected this thread from the dead because I am in search of Harris Tweed neck ties!  I picked up my one and only HT tie in a trade with a fellow forum member here and have not been able to find one since.  If anyone out there has one (or many) that they'd be willing to part with, let me know.  Let's make a deal!
