^ Easily the nicest looking patch madras I've seen. It's really forcing me to reconsider patch madras altogether. The same with Nick's monk straps on the other thread - always hated the things, but he wears them extremely well.

It's a patch print, not actually comprised of patches. When I first saw it I just assumed it was Polo or something until I saw it was 60s Manhattan!

Very curious... I love it! Perhaps I only like faux patch madras then.
Great madras on the blog too btw.

If the 17.25" shoulder works, you could probably have it taken in to a 37-38.
Wrote to you about the Orvis madras too... please hang on to it for me until the weekend!
Any idea approx when it dates btw, mid-sixties?
Thanks Zach!!
How did I miss that navy suit!
Darnit, who's the fink that stole that Orvis button down before I could put an RSVP on it?!
Grrrr I'dve killed for that!
I'll pay more if anyone wants to sell it to me!

^Sorry - that was me, I grabbed it very shortly after it went up. If it doesn't work for me I'll definitely get in touch. That said, I wouldn't hold your breath; I'm equally excited about this shirt.
Darn, well congrats to you quickdraw!
I literally sent Zach an email the second it went up too and he responded seconds later saying that it'd been bought before he could put the hold on it, oh well!
Hope it works for ya.

It's definitely not 60s. I'd say mid-70s to 80s judging by the labeling and buttons, and the fact that it is Orvis by McCluer and not just Orvis.

I liked it, too small for me.
I was tempted NS but I don't like short sleeve shirts. The colours are great and as Zach said looks like the original colours available from the Veggie dyeing process.

Ah, once summer comes I live in short sleeves. I think I overheat easily haha. With some levi's, penny loafers and a tan g4 I'll be set!
edit - shit, didn't notice my 100th post!

I missed my 2000th. I dare say it was an unremarkable bit of snark anyhow.
I stay pretty cool... which isn't hard living in Scotland. Long sleeves just seem to suit me better I suppose. Who knows.
Hope it's a good one for you mate.
I'd buy that (early-'70s?) Brooksgate madras sportcoat right now if the lapel were one inch thinner. As it's got swelled edges, it would be impossible to tailor.
It's a real smart jacket... bit too much width for me!
A third button would also send it over the top!
Two dozen fresh items in the shop tonight! More shirts, more tweed, more suits, more shirts. Highlights include a Palm Beach Zephyr madras, a deadstock Brooks chambray 2b sack, and a beautiful Langrock 60s tweed.
