Re: Night Of The Living Loafer

I think I mentioned this dude a few months ago. I always thought he looked super cool in that film. I had no idea he was wearing Yumas though. Good shout. Doesn't he wear a nice shawl collar cardy when he first shows up at the house or am I misremembering? I think it's due another watch.

I love this film. The ending is so grim. It's just such a daring idea that you can off the hero at the last gasp and show his body being meat hooked onto a bonfire in the closing credits.

The remake is awful of course.

Yeah, not exactly a happy end. Although the film was not without humour.

The loafers in question are seen in clear close-up quite a few times in the film. No question about what they are.

Of course none of those film anoraks on the net have ever thought fit to post film stills of them... smile

Re: Night Of The Living Loafer

I remember seeing 'Dawn Of The Dead' at a scruffy suburban cinema back in 1978 or 79.  I was dating hard at the time (Debbie, where are you now?), so may not have seen too much of it.  My elder daughter insisted on us having 'Night' on video - I could only bear to watch it the once.  I find most of those late horror movies pretty unwatchable: 'Rabid', 'Halloween' and so on.  'Race With The Devil' is underrated, though.  I do like the fact that Romero's favourite film is 'The Tales Of Hoffman'.  Scorcese also rates it very highly, and stole some of its ideas for 'Goodfellas'.

The striped T... The short and slim pants... The loafers... I dig it, man.
