Practicalness, is where it's at. What is it about the allure of the wild?
I the idea of someone selling you something that won't fall apart. As one day your life might depend on it. You kind of feel like this particular type of humanity when it comes to selling things has all but gone really.

I often say to my wife 'do you think these shoes make my feet look big?'
Having seen that picture I realise I have no need to worry.
He couldn't have been that difficult to find seeming as he would've left a trail of massive f@ck off footprints behind him.

1912-Leon Leonwood Bean invents Maine hunting shoe.
1913-L.L's mailer for his hunting shoe earns 100 orders. Ninety pairs are returned for refund.
This nearly sent him under before he got started, all the money invested into new products came from sales.
Best Sellers;
1962
Chamois clothe shirt $5.85
Lounger boots $12.25
Warden jacket $13.85
Bluchers $7.90
Ladies frontier pants $10.85
Maine hunting shoes $15.85
Chino pants $5.40
Hudson blanket $30.85
Tattersall flannel shirt $5.90
LL seems to have made everything in his time, even xmas decorations. A real lifestyle choice. I'd love to give a few more snippets but that cabin won't build itself.
Interesting stuff there Simon.
I would like to venture a guess that that front cover shows how the duck boot is traditionally worn. As an overboot worn on top of a pair of longwings or perhaps another pair of duck boots.
Also, Simon, if you're interested I have a lot of experience of small mammal and bird trapping in addition to knowing how to best construct and repair lobster, crab and Crayfish creels. I'd love for you to become the first Talk Ivy wild man and perhaps you could write your own book on your adventures.
Got to get yourself one of these Soggs.
It's the 66' Bronco for me.
I bow to your choice..
No worries on the transport front Bop...

I'm afraid Liam and I have parted company while fishing. He's never happy with my swims and keeps bricking them. We've had words and he's gone up river. The bastards took my keepnet with him. So its looking like elk again for dinner. The good news is the log cabins are finished, I'm rather pleased with mine.
Liam's is a bit smaller but its big enough for him.
Although, little did he know that the little green cabin was just a decoy to distract Soggy from not noticing Liam putting the finishing touch to his REAL house at the other side of the fence...
haha
Genius lads. That's how to derail a thread!

Right, in an attempt to get it back on track.
Which is the definitive 60/40? I only know of about four or five makes of the 60/40 and I think my favourite has to be the Woolrich one.

These really are boring and unstylish garments.
We'll be back to bodywarmers again before long, I expect.
I really like them, being a country bumpkin I quite like the plaid shirts, the 60/40's and all the other joys of the great outdoors American style. I haven't succumbed to a body warmer yet though.
Well, what would you wear if you were walking in the wilds, Woof?
I think woof has got a nice Pendleton (or it may have been yuca), but not made in a shell material and not a 60/40, so he certainly experiences the call of the wild. I think the parka are nice though, Sierra Design do ones with Pendleton lining. Although I'd just like a blue Woolrich one with hunters plaid lining.
