Anywa,y I did a mix for my mates radio show that's airing tomorrow night, here is the download of the mix to anyone that might like it..
http://www.sendspace.com/file/ywu0vo
nice chilled mix
Outta My System - My Morning Jacket
Funeral Song - Minks
Shallow Days - Blackalicious
Pacific Theme - Broken Social Scene
Scotch and Soda - Kingston Trio
Coolie - Dizzy Gillespie
and
Maye Obi Den - Kyerematen Stars
I had an olive green Irish Linen Rooster- same labels as this one except for the store label which is for a mens store in Memphis which also has a Rooster on it- turn up today. These are my FAVOURITE Roosters. So textural and float away. Deep rich colours and just wonderfully put together. Is it any wonder I'm addicted?
I'm downloading your mix now Bopster. Look forward to it. Link us up for your mates show and I'll listen into that too.

Great song! I swear I was thinking of posting that. I think of "The Flamingo Kid" , great movie, used that.
I go with Ronnie Spector as hottest. Still doesn't look bad.

That reminded me of interviews I've seen with Little Richard. He talks about having lived by the railroad tracks and how the house shook with the rhythm of the trains going by. That's where he got the bass line for "Lucille". Chugga Chugga Chugga Chugga http://youtu.be/tFiwYC2ZKVM He has an impressive Rooster in this clip. http://youtu.be/6OIkfEdll0E
Just been turned onto Bob Wayne:

Never was a big fan. I know they had an almost cult like following of fanatics, Lowell George and all that. I liked that song "Willin', everyone was doing a version ot that in the early 70s.
Besides, Doctor? I don't need no stinkin doctor. http://youtu.be/0lxyRjzXvxo

Little Feat was one of Ms fxh's fav bands. So I've heard a lot over the years.
Not much wrong with even the worst of it.
And the best... is just fantastic.
Willin, Fat Man in The Bathtub, Dixie Chicken, Oh Atlanta, Apolitical Blues and so on

This song is one of my favourites. Great words that flow so well. The last verse linked to chorus is simply magnificent in a narrative song.
Dixie Chicken
-- George, Martin
I've seen the bright lights of Memphis
And the Commodore Hotel
And underneath a street lamp I met a Southern belle
Well she took me to the river, where she cast her spell
And in that Southern moonlight, she sang a song so well
If you'll be my dixie chicken, I'll be your Tennessee lamb
And we can walk together down in dixieland
Down in dixieland
Well we made all the hot spots. My money flowed like wine
Then that low down Southern whiskey began to fog my mind
And I don't remember church bells or the money I put down
On the white picket fence and boardwalk of the house at the edge of town
But boy do I remember the strain of her refrain
The nights we spent together, and the way she called my name
If you'll be my dixie chicken, I'll be your Tennessee lamb
And we can walk together down in dixieland
Down in dixieland
Well it's been a year since she ran away
Yes that guitar player sure could play
She always liked to sing along
She's always handy with a song
Then one night in the lobby of the Commodore Hotel
I chanced to meet a bartender who said he knew her well
And as he handed me a drink he began to hum a song
And all the boys there, at the bar, began to sing along
If you'll be my dixie chicken, I'll be your Tennessee lamb
And we can walk together down in dixieland
Down in dixieland
