Re: The real Russell Street. Rejected by Christian Chensvold

That should tickle Christian, him being a renowned swordsman and all.

A very nice night with Pete last night - He was highly complimentary of Simon's Q&A & said he didn't feel remotely stitched up, but admitted he now had to re-think his. Fair play to him - He's a very decent chap.
Chens had a major meltdown all over him apparently, which is actually rather upsetting that anyone could be that fragile in what is only a phony war of words. No gamesmanship some people. No backbone, bottom or balls.

'Having no bottom' was an expression from school & I wonder how common it is. It meant having no metal. Anybody else know it?

So rather nicely I have a new chum. We saw off four bottles of very nice plonk together here:   http://www.thealbionclifton.co.uk/

Recommended to all.

My liver will never forget you Jimmy. I left The Albion with my face literally aching from all the laughing.
The College No. 9 interview is very good. Few professional journalists can produce work as lively as that. My regards to Simon. Regarding my own work, I have some rewrites & rethinks to do and will remain in touch. Go easy on Christian. He is a very vulnerable human being.

Peter: do you really exist?  Or are you just an invention from the constantly creative mind of Jimmy?  I note your name brings up nothing (except this thread of course) on a search engine.  An unpublished journalist?

I have eight published names. Needless to say my name isn't Peter Van Lorens.  I'm not some ego driven amateur doing this for a hobby.
PVL is an anagram of VPL. A name most suitable for fashion journalism.

Congratulations, Yuca you win, although if Andy was playing along at home I'm sure he had it figured from Peter's first post. Here's how the interview between "Peter" and Jimmy went starring Woody Allen as Jimmy (and Peter)     http://youtu.be/I4zP7247W7o

To be fair, all will become clear when the interview is published.  I don't know if journalism is one of Jimmy's many talents, but even if it is, getting an interview published that's conducted by a fictitious character who is really the interviewee would probably be beyond him.

Time will tell, I suspect.

Thanks for clarifying.  So PVL will be your 9th name?

I rather hope Peter is real as I feel Jim has more to give on his love of Ivy. Though why a journalist should claim his work is published under so many names makes me think Peter is either made up or owes money.

Too high above the waist was the badge of the hopeless nerd/engineering student.  High waters were also not cool, the right length is the right length and you either grasp it, have the eye, or you don't.

I assume by now everyone has seen Chinner's photos of his new apartment? It looks to me like it was decorated by a gay man, at least if those 30 years of Architectural Digests I have are any indication. I think (as others have pointed out) the man is conflicted in his tastes and style and like a whore is up for anything that pays. Certainly there's nothing "ivy" about that decor.

I think Jimmy has been watching Seinfeld and getting his ideas from George Costanza. Note the similarity: Van Lorens-Vandelay.

Due to the size of the apartment, would it now be witty to refer to it as "Christian's Closet"?   If so, you must face the fall out from inspiring this joke!

Poor Chis is in anxious damage limitation mode now I notice under more of his and Gedde's made-up names on IS...  It's nice how they chatter away between themselves, propping each other up.  I must email my imaginary friend Pete to drag Geddes into his magnum opus too...    wink

If you knew the reality of real life professional journalism you would know how common this is. I have been published under both male and female names to suit the publication involved. As long as the cheque is made out to me I'm fine.
PVL has been good for information gathering but I doubt I will publish under it.  "Ricardo K. Johnnybag" anyone?

Re: The real Russell Street. Rejected by Christian Chensvold

... A PS to all of this this is that I'm now up for another consultancy gig via Pete rather than yet another article on me...

I returned to Jason Jules' 'Gramsville' today, I'm up on Nick Rossi's 'A Modernist' website next and then I have my new gig with DNA Groove's Claudio...
