I wear a variation of this exact look Heikki. Love it! It's great for showery but warm days. I'll be wearing it tomorrow I think as it's supposed to rain but stay humid. I might swap in my white Vans instead of camp mocs if it's too warm for socks.

Axelist- I found mine while searching for 'rain/ foul weather smocks' on US ebay. Sup[er cheap. About $10 ($8 of which was postage) I think with no other bidders.

Mine is very similar but with a big patch (map) pocket on the front and it's a button closure rather than a zip. I think it was waxed cotton at one point but that's worn out and it's just a kind of hard wearing cotton twill now in a great faded out yellow. No brand visible on the label either. If you look hard enough you'll find them. I guess etsy will turn up some too.

Liam, one question - how would you know that your Ray Bans are 60s vintage and not let's say, 80s vintage? I'm not too much of a Ray Ban expert but I know them quite well - have had various Wayfarers (model I - the small ones, and model II - still have one pair of each)  from the 80s to the 90s, I also have ´78 US bought Outdoorsman in white gold (quite rare) etc... I also have two Luxottica made Ray Bans including Caravans, the other model I dunno. I never spotted any difference between 60s Wayfarers and later ones except when Luxottica bought Ray Ban, then the difference was obvious. With other models it's easier to get them into the right decade, but also not too easy - just because of the looks. Is there any other way to spot the time when they were made?

I think they have had the etched Ray Ban on the lenses since the 80's (?) and the white branding on the lens came in a little later again. Lots of reissues since the 80's too and the introduction of the smaller frame as well as the larger 80's style. The popular style now is the larger 80's frame but the smaller style like you say is available too and is virtually identical to the ones I have apart from weight. My ones are much heavier than my Mums pair but are the same size.

This is all pieced together from online research, and probably all a bit off. Long story short it's an educated...ish guess.

Oliver has a pair whih he says are early 60's vintage too and they look identical to mine which sort of lent weight to my guess. Also the pics of Psych hair Bob Dylan in his wayfarers I love. Mine look exactly the same and appear to be the same size.

You sound like you know more about the brand than me (i really don't know anything actually). There's a thread in this somewhere, Dominik. You may be the man for the job.

I guess my 80s Wayfarers (model I, the small one - model II are the bigger ones saying "Ray Ban" on the frame one the sides, those are the "Blues Brothers" shades) are pretty much identical to 60s ones - the etching wasn't there on Wayfarers until the late 90s. Only "BL" engraved like it was in the 70s, too (dunno about the 60s). Dunno if the 60s ones were heavier, mine are pretty heavy due to the Bausch & Lomb glasses, the Luxottica ones from the late 90s on are plastic (pretty good, though - but not the real deal anymore). I suspect that Dylan wasn't wearing Wayfarers - they are different, but my English is too bad to explain it now... This is a good source for NOS B&L Ray Bans:

It doesn't matter if they are 60s, 70s or even 90s... as long as the suit your face and have the terrific B&L glasses!

Pretty sure Dylan's 60's shades are not raybans, although he wore raybans later in the 80's - I think he's sporting them on the infidels cover.

I don't think we'll ever know the answer to that Liam. This is the only other guy on the internet, besides noblesurfer, who says they're not ray bans. Like you said everyone sees the black plastic frame and assumes they're ray bans.
