If you alter that on the back it'll go tighter through the chest, which does fit you, i find those keydge, are tight in the chest and big in the waist, just get the side seams taken in till you like the look.

Me wearing my jpress branded J Keydge ... it's the navy ivy model in size 40... it's a bit baggy on the back so I'm trying to decide if I should have it slightly altered or exchange for a size 38 (which may not fit on the shoulders/chest) your feedback is appreciated! click on the image for a larger view...

http://forums.filmnoirbuff.com/uploads/ … hoto-6.jpgIt looks alright to me, Senor.
I think to downsize would make the look geeky and hipsterish/vogueish (in a bad way).
It looks fine to me.
Jesmond's right.
Wear it for a while before you think about having it altered. As the Slack jackets are unstructered they do take on your body shape more than a conventional tailored coat
Looks good señor. Must go check them out at JS.
How does the jacket fit in the chest Senor? If you have it it nipped in the sides, as Bop said and its a bit big in the chest you'll end up with gathering cloth. I'd size down myself first, then change again and alter if not happy with the replacement coat. I guess this is the problem with online shopping.

Cheers fellows!
Exactly Bop... it fits on the shoulders and chest but when I look at it from the side or when I open the jacket up, the waist seems just a little too roomy... funny as the keydge in navy runs smaller than the needle cord version... I'm a 40 in the navy ivy and a 38 in my ivy needlecord...
jesmond: thanks for the advise and I agree, a size down would look tight in all the wrong places...
Mr. Woof: Yeah I've noticed that they do contour to one's body, I shall ware it for a bit and then have it taken in- ever so slightly - on the sides...
Overall, I'm really liking the jackets (got two navys and the needlecord on the sales) they will see a lot year round wear in tropical Florida

Depends on how it is in the back - if it's just a small "Falte" (crinkle?) - which is what I always had - the chest should leave as it is afterwards. If it is really roomy then the sideseams are the way to go. The tailor should know what to do I guess... The front looks perfect to me.
Ah, read now what the problem is... Yeah the sideseams...

I agree Soggs. Online shopping is a pain....
I really like the way it drapes on my chest, and also as I like the look with the upper two buttons done up, a size down would be too tight for the look I'm going for...
but since these jackets are basically constructed like shirts I was thinking of having it **very slightly** taken in the sides in the places that are a bit big on the back...
also they seem to fit slimmer on the chest/shoulders and large on the bottom half, so I **hope** that a very slight alteration that follows this pattern should not result in gathering cloth...

Makes sense, I was thinking about a coat once I had that was like a tent in the body, it didn't look so bad from the front. From the side it looked like a poncho. I had it nipped in and sorted the problem but had small ripples of fabric on the chest afterwards. Lesson being don't buy something too big just cause its cheap. Thats what I thought was going on with yours as it looks alright as is, in the pic. Nice looking jacket.
Yeah I had the same thing happen with a coat, and was concerned the same thing was happening here too, but I guess ive become pretty good at calculating/guessing what the next size down/ or up would be like... in this case a size down will bring me into hipster/trendy/schoolboy territory...
as for the sales, yeah it's sometimes tempting to buy something at good price, but if it doesnt fit... is not worth it... it's been a problem with me when I used to get expensive shoes on sale that would fit but then stretch out too much after a couple of wears...

Like that cardigan, Oliver.
Very fond of mine - The weight of wool you get for your buck is most impressive !
J.
I'm really impressed with that pic.
As you say, they seem tremendous quality and value , re: bang for the buck.
They look like another excellent option for those very cold spells.
It's a look that suits, I fear if I was to wear one, it'd look like I should be offering Werthers Originals to the young.
I really like the pic of Oliver. Despite the colossal vanity of wearing sunglasses indoors and striking such camp pose to take your own photo in front of the mirror... You can't deny the guy dresses well and looks cool...
He is certainly a chap who is enjoying life

As oppossed to beatnik, who is a miserable old fart. (check my spelling Bop)
Come on Steve, don't sit on the fence, say what you mean!
All I'm saying is I'd rather someone do a stupid pose like that in what are nice clothes, than some of the types over on style forum where it can all be deadly serious and stuff. If we can all retain some kind of self-paradoy then there probably is hope for clothing forums.
