It's peeing down...it's windy... so what do we wear?

I'm assuming it's awful everywhere in the UK today...

I'm donning a North Face hooded waterproof...no real style there but practical for the conditions:

I can't be arsed with brollies at all these days so...

Is there a stylish hooded waterproof out there today that's tried n tested....preferably with no logo..for when you just want to be nicely covered up in such conditions??

Mackintosh do some nice ones, and there's a company called Elka that make some nice looking raincoats.

On the collar behind the hood, a blind deboss - doesn't offend me, nice looking jacket.

I'm rocking vintage Eddie Bauer.

For the rare occasions I get dressed up: Grenfell trench.

I'm wearing RaceFace - taped seams the lot! But it's not Ivy, it's serious cycling and keeping dry, over shoes the lot today!

The mackintosh in the bonded cotton just aren't worth it, cold, clamy. I think Burberry fabric is more comfortable to wear and performs the same task, problem is Mackintoshes look so cool in their design, so minimal, a classic, if you want a mackintosh go for their other materials.

Arrives unpressed and minimally packaged.

Do you have a mackintosh bop?

Silk lining helps to keep your warm, even if the cashmere and wool blend of your bespoke trench coat is sodden in a Cambridge (Massachusetts) winter of sub-zero rain and wind.  I popped into the local diner to get some take-away dinner and the steam rose from my clothes.  Ivy of course as i was at a Harvard Business School function.  Where the real old money goes Chenners.

Wore an old Olive Needlecord M65 with the hood up as I made my way to the Chemist's today... It still isn't dry & also weighs three times as much as it usually does.

I was having a Woody Allen moment again.

Because of the Metric System?

Seriously a Mac is an important part of getting old, deep pockets for boiled sweets, and cut long enough nobody can tell you're naked underneath.

Oh in other news I met the ex-managing director of Aquascutum today, he was very well dressed, quite deaf, and although offish at first shook my hand goodbye, nicer than the woman from the Great British Bake Off, who took issue with the price of socks.

I love my job.

Jacket still not dry. Smells nice though, like an old canvas tent...

I've got one of those Norse X Elka smocks in navy and can vouch for it; keeps in the warmth and keeps out the damp.
Quite campus-ivy too with it's raglan shoulders, slick-shell and short, square fit

£150 is a bit much but its my go-to jacket for the Manc weather and can take a good beatin'

If anyone's interested here's the original and cheaper Elka fishermen smocks;
