Re: Leith Clothing, Bleeding Madras?

Welcome to the forum SwedeLevov.

Never heard of Leith. Which is strange as the shirts they are making seem to be very much to the general taste of the forum.

I've one gripe with the shirts and only one.  But it's a deal breaker. I really don't like the dark stitching used. A white stitch colour would look infinitely better I think.

Not bleeding Madras as I remember it from the description:-

''The dyeing process is still completely natural but has been refined to address the problems of shrinkage and excessive bleeding found in the original 1960s cloth. Our fabric gently fades, developing it's own personality and character as it ages to give the perfect lived-in look and feel.''

My O'Connell's old stock, bleeding Madras did not bleed like the old ones either.

They look very short in the body and slim fit. But then I would pick holes:) Naa fair play to them. Is this is your company Swedlevov or friends of yours?

Re: Leith Clothing, Bleeding Madras?

The 15 appears to be a 40 inch chest (but not sure if that's to fit a 40" or a shirt measurement). Just right for me most likely but perhaps not others.

They do look a bit 'modern' in the length but again likely not a problem for me being short.

The fit I think is a bit too hipsterish. If you like modern Gant then you'll probably like these? The collar is pretty good though.

I wouldn't consider one though, because I know a Fitzgeralds will be landing soon at the same price and it won't have contrast stitching.

Nice fabrics but as mentioned look a tad short. But at the same prize as a fizzy, i know where my money is going.

Re: Leith Clothing, Bleeding Madras?

Is that the nickname they have? A fizzy?

I can back that. A secondary label with 'Genuine Fizzy Madras' would be awesome.

Ahh ok, I just thought you may have something to do with it as that website has literally gone live in the last few days and there's nothing coming up when you Google them.

I see old Chinmold is on the case with these too - no mention of Fitzgerald's from him though?

Re: Leith Clothing, Bleeding Madras?

Christian did give Fitzgerald's a mention a while back, but I didn't  send him anything or any details as I'm connected to this place and thus probably guilty by association. That is Guy from JS, yes. I wonder why he hasn't been on here to mention this. I'd be very interested to know where he's taken inspiration for the collar etc from. looks like he's aiming more at the fashion market but with some nice details, probably wise from a business point of view. Good luck to him I say, hope he does well.

Is Guy still working at JS?  I'm surprised he hasn't been on here whipping us all into a frenzy for weeks before releasing his shirts, like Henry did smile
