I have a couple of Stormies. One old red plaid one from the days when the hats were made in Milwaukee and one new one with much better insulation and more useful flaps.
My wife calls them my "IQ Lowering Hats", but they sure are warm.
I was only joking Jimbo. I know he never really ruined nothing nearly. But he did make you cry and for that I'll not never forgive him.
My watch caps are all US army/navy surplus. You can still get them very cheaply on ebay. Still US made too.
Tears of laughter - Guilty !
Oh, you beast!
I think the surplus ones on eBay UK are made by rothco. So sadly, they aren't genuine surplus. Still good 'n' cheap though.
Anybody have any other wool watch cap suggestions that would be available in the UK? The buzz rickson ones look nice but nae £60 nice!
I didn't know that. The only label on my ones where a wee white paper tab which said '100% Wool Made in USA'. The listing said they were surplus. Very likely not though.
Cheers for the info Don.
If you cats are cool with Orlon...
No, let me start again:
If you can live with acrylic, look out for Wigwam's US-made Alcatraz beanie at $7. Not just navy either.
Since I read this damn thread, the idea of one these "bobcaps" has been growing on me. My knitted caps are black and dark navy, so a little bit of lighter shades would be nice. I like the navy/white by J Press (We won't go TOO light). http://www.jpressonline.com/bobcap-navy-white/
Does anybody have an idea who makes those in Scotland?

For true warmth only dachstein boiled wool delivers!
It is a shame there are no uniform regulations for Ushanka. Too many tilted back on the head. For example at the Pussy Riot trial and also the Greenpeace trial. Distance above the eyebrow needs to be specified. Fringe showing should result in a flogging.
Picked up a 100% Lambswool with no seams from T Burrows.. "..knitted with love, pride and a great eye for fashion by craftsmen and women in the heart of the Scottish Borders"...
What a lovely thing to say on the tag!
Looking forward to the temperature going down I must say..seems pretty comfy even for an old fathead like mine...
I received on of those Leuchtfeuer beanies today. Fine hat. I went for the short 'Whaler' version, in Cousteau red. I'll be back for a couple more. Great fit and good value.
