This is the type of stuff that keeps me awake at night
The shorter length of the Keydge lends itself to casual wear. To my eye it doesn't look right mixed with dressy items, you can just about get away with wearing one with chinos but 5 pockets suit it better. It will take a knitted tie but not a silk one IMO. Many boom years casual summer jackets were cut shorter, you often see this with madras ones.
Does it look like a traditional American cut jacket? No it doesn't, but should that bother you? It depends if you want time capsule ivy i.e. looking like you're at Harvard in 1962 or a more modern iteration of the look. Styles move on and other items come into the mix. Worth mentioning also that J Press have been stocking the cotton Keydge jackets for some years as a summer item, so trad status can't be far off.
Polo 'Hampton' or 'Langley' are unlined cotton in good colours and I like the cut (size up one for more casual look) and can be found for reasonable prices like this:

Darted but that's not something that bothers me too much. Keydge prices are just nuts for what they are.
And not alpha sized either..
If you like it wear it.. im not bowled over by mine but I still wear it. I prefer my RL one.
But this really is for summer needs I think most people could find a nice vintage sack for the rest of the year. Summer jackets seem to be hard to find
Makes me wonder how hard line purist are youse blokes? Whatever a purist is. I have around 5 straight up no darts ivy vintage jackets, millions of ocbd, high rise chinos, knit ties etc. But I also have loads of italian suits, jacket's, spread collars etc. I wear what my mood or situation determines.
Can't stand spread collars, there's nothing worse than the open spread collar being worn without a tie, it looks just so wrong.
The post-match fitball player and commentator look deserves its own thread on how style cannot exist in a vacuum.
I've never found a RL that fits me and I'm not one for tailoring generally...
Thee Keydge just fits me great...my style is mostly relaxed and so it suits my needs...
Yeah, I've a fair few wash n wears and lightweight jobbies but at the end of the day...these days I just ain't wearing them anymore.....
I also love wearing new stuff still..I'm very happy thank you very much and ta for asking in Keydge/Vetra etc.
Still - splendid debate fellas.. it comes down to personal choice as always

I'd almost never wear an open necked shirt that wasn't BD. And I never wear an extreme spread.

Please allow myself to introduce.....er...myself. Im Richie Cunningham and this is my wife Oprah.
A Keydge can't really be compared to regular summer-weight sack jackets without it all leading to tears.
Anyone for whom a sports jacket means 'dressing up' is unlikely to be happy with it - get a proper blazer or suit instead. It's very casual indeed. As others have said, it sits better with jeans or less structured chinos and knit ties go well with them. They can even be worn straight over a t-shirt, something one would never do with 'normal' blazers.
Inveterate (or invertebrate?) jacket wearers may well love them though, hard use without hesitation is the name of the game. The looks - the real-life ones, not photos - are just a bonus.
Im talking about other comparable summer jackets not blazers. The cotton RLs work in the same way as a keydge whether darted or not they're just better jackets and for me personally look better. I can wear them 5ps and a madras or knitted tie. Im not sure I'd wear any jacket over a tshirt unless they asked me to have a bit part in Miami Vice.
