Re: Where can I find Corduroy Trousers?

But doesn't gravy and sauce and stuff get more easily "hung up" in the horizontal cord as it dribbles out of your mouth?  Something I need to consider before purchase.

Those flap pockets are just going to accentuate that bubble.

Hahahaha.  I'm celebrating my clean bill of dental health with a spot of bourbon. 1792 to be exact.  So, forgive me.  Let's get back on track shall we?   Enough about the cord trousers.  Have y'all seen Woof's ass in those cords?

Re: Where can I find Corduroy Trousers?

I could, ox. I bought a pair of navy BB cord trousers in LA a couple of years ago, although I think they might've been the Milano cut. To be honest, I don't really like them and don't wear them anymore. My wife used to call them my "grandpa" pants. I didn't really like the cut; it's a pretty stingy rise and handwash didn't help it. I also wasn't that impressed with the quality of the cotton cord either. I probably wouldn't have bought them if they weren't heavily discounted. I wore them for a month or so and they didn't really wash well. I typically love the look of beat up old cords but these don't really feel that substantial and the best way to describe the material is, kind of cheap feeling. After a few washes they just looked worse; not like well worn faded pants but like cheap old pants. I eventually stopped wearing them. They're my chore pants now and I still rarely wear them even for that. I'd suggest spending an extra $50-60 for something of higher quality. These are only $60 higher but you'll probably get at least half that many more years out of them and a much more flattering cut that hasn't been messed with or updated - http://www.oconnellsclothing.com/product.php?productid=18541&cat=954&page=1

Re: Where can I find Corduroy Trousers?

Thanks Yuca and John Boy for the feedback. I appreciate it!

I actually never wash cords. I take them to the dry cleaner. Maybe I just haven't learned how to wash and iron cords. I might just wait for LE to offer some, buy them for $30, and complain later.

Oliver - You really changed my view on the horizontal cords. They do look more like moleskin.

The more I go and look at the horizontal cords, the less I know what to think about them.

Re: Where can I find Corduroy Trousers?

My Hoggs cords arrived yesterday. The fit, particularly the rise, is superb. On the heavyweight pair, the frogmouth pockets are not my cup of tea, and naturally hardcore natural shoulder details - e.g. the pocket on the waist line, and 'correct' back pockets - are absent, but at that price they are definitely considerably superior to their competitors e.g. LE and Bean. I tried the lighter weight too, which have better colour and pockets, although it remains to be seen if the lightweight will look too scruffy and/or be insufficient weight for winter; however I suspect they'll be ok.

For the full on classic natural shoulder effect though, I would still like to get a pair of O'Connell's (when funds permit).

Re: Where can I find Corduroy Trousers?

I'm curious to know why O'Connell's (which is great) gets so much play while Andover seems somewhat forgotten.  Is it a result of O'Connell's more comprehensive website?  I've found the customer service to be the same (very good) at both.  Prices are comparable.  The stock (corduroys, for example) is largely the same; the corduroys, for example, are made by the same people (Hertling).
