I dig it so much that I just shot OC an email asking them to put me down for the driftwood color when they restock their 38s.
I needed to confer with Mrs. AB on this one chaps, but a quick comparison of PLY in woollens.....
PLY refers to the number of strands in a thread.
Different thread thicknesses contribute to the different yarn weights.
8 ply lambs-wool is therefore almost directly comparable in weight to 12 ply fine cashmere - as cashmere has a much finer thread than lambs-wool.
I think that makes sense
Yeah and by the same token, 12-ply lambswool would be a thicker and heavier weight than 8-ply of the same fabric. It depends entirely on the cloth. In this case the selling point is surely a much softer and more luxurious fabric, though it seems entirely unecessary. I just phoned in a preorder on the driftwood sweater!

That's a hell of a mark-up by O'Connells.

It was surprisingly cheap, John!
Robbie, I'd like to know the same thing. I wasn't about to ask Ethan for obvious reasons though. If anyone has any lead, let us know!
The price will start adding up with flights over there. Ah maybe one day.

Anyone know what happened to White of Hawick? Looks like they used to do a great one with a throat latch?
http://www.northseaclothing.bigcartel.com/product/the-expedition-cardigan Again £225 but seem to remember their stuff is really well made?
These could be worth a punt chaps, asked the seller for some sizes, they are 44 chest, and lengthwise is 27 inches.
Terrible photos, but I think they should be ok.

Bump for this as the Tyrwhitt one is only £44 in the sale:

some nice Donegal crew necks too, in grey, olive and navy:

Despite it being for men, I got this military reproduction for my mother. It is sufficiently heavy.

That looks alright for the money but can't find it over here, sure wpg has some European stockists?
I was on the cusp of buying the Tyrwhitt Navy shawl SB, I also liked the look of the Navy Marl fishermans rib, but they didn't have my size. I ended up buying a navy shawl cable nit in lambswool from Gant, and it doesn't have the Gant logo either.
Just pulled the trigger on the North Sea Clothing expedition cardigan. I'll give a report when it cones in.

Did we mention this one yet? Looks quite alright.
