How dark can a pair of slacks go?

I'm wondering just how dark can a pair of slacks go,  I've a green hopsack HSM and flannels just seem to be too heavy in my eyes,  I've a pair of darkish navy one's but I'm thinking while a really dark charcoal one's would be better than black? I have seen some pictures from talk ivy of kids in what look like black 5 pockets and maybe slacks like Levi's Spikes and that's maybe the era I'm more interested in, but I'm looking for something that can be worn formally as much as anything.

Dark charcoal or black worsted trousers would probably pair nicely with the hopsack.  Same would look good with a grey herringbone as well.

Apart from shoes and belts, I don't own any black clothing, I find it too stark. Charcoal grey is alright though. At present I want some navy blue wool trousers.

Black is a necessary color for seersucker summer nights.

Im not into black but sometimes you need it...going back to the thread about tonality...each hue plays out against black differently and you'll find some shades actually are too dark to sit against black where some hues' shades actually work. Go by your eye to judge it but ultimately if something is very dark it wont work with black if it's a deep jewel like colour like racing green or ruby red it will Work

I don't own any black pants myself, but I think I can see myself in a grey herringbone, white shirt, black pants, black shoes.  Stark, to be sure, but quite Hitman.

Black cords look cool. Honestly, I don't mind black for pants. Charcoal may be a better option though.

^ very nice Oliver. If only O'Connells could open a branch in Staines. Actually I don't think my bank manager would like it much.

Re: How dark can a pair of slacks go?

Been looking through old threads and about on ebay/ etsy, but nothing has really come up. I've got a budget of possibly up to about £100, any recommendations?
