Re: (Casual) Winter footwear

Fracap have a decent variation of a Paraboot Michaels-styled shoe, too - pretty interesting IMO:

Re: (Casual) Winter footwear

Arthur Knight do a Paraboot Michael style shoe too:

For the welted, waxy leather, commando sole shoe I picked up some Loake Epsoms new from a shop via t'bay.  They are excellent for the money, far more robust than a usual Loake shoe (comparison to 771B or various of their brogues), a strong sole and proving useful seasonally.

Re: (Casual) Winter footwear

I don't find them too bad, although I would stay away from them - Paraboots are winter footwear, and suede isn't too waterproof... IMO. At least the normal standard version looks better to me. If they were solely suede without the trimming they would at least LOOK decent...

A good and cheaper alternative to the Michael is the Mephisto Peppo:

http://maennergarderobe.blogspot.co.at/2013/01/winterschuhe-die-gefallen-aber-nicht.html

Another Paraboot that looks stunning, but is WAY too expensive, even if it is Goyser/Norwegian welted and therefore superior to most of the mentioned hiking shoes:

https://www.pritchards.co.uk/menswear/paraboot-avoriazjannu-lis-ecorce-mountain-boots-074603/c-24/p-44659

I myself couldn't help and pulled the trigger on the now very rare and supposedly discontinued Fracap M127 - good price - if anyone is interested, they still have some sizes in three colours - I got the brown ones:

When I get around to it I'm going to buy a pair of Scarpa walking boots. If cowboy boots are now considered to be Ivy then I will claim that these are too. They do have a USA connection.

Really fancy a pair of Barker Nairns but always prefer to try footwear on in person.

Re: (Casual) Winter footwear

The Barker Nairns I started wearing from Christmas are good - nice grain patina, good sole, look distinctive.   They are an interesting balance of informal and formal that work in either setting.

Re: (Casual) Winter footwear

There's x2 C&J's now down there?

Think this was the first Tricker's Sale in years I never even popped by...which is quite sad personally...

Just reminded myself I'd forgotten all about popping into Bates for a Linen Newsboy...

New & Lingwood always totally mental too...
