Re: Yellow Rat

Thanks for sharing - these are intriguing.  Trying to figure out the sizing as the chart makes them sound vanity-sized but then your measurements indicate TTS.  Do you wear a 33 in vintage stuff?

Re: Yellow Rat

I never thought that I would say it, but  I am actually getting interested in a pair of the wheat 5 pockets. I never thought they were cool(I know that what I am saying is blasphemy here, but don't even ask how I feel about McQueen.) . But you all have convinced me otherwise with lots of cool pics.

So who is going to try out his tapered slacks??? http://yellowrat.blogspot.com/2013/07/tapered-slacks.html Oli, can you get us the specs? How much do you think it would cost for us to get this surfer working for us?

Re: Yellow Rat

I'm really a rock in a hard place with these pants. I'm a true to size 30 waist, but I honestly don't know if the rise will work even if I size up to a 32. You're really making them enticing though with your thoughts on them, Oli, so maybe I'll give them a try in a larger size and eventually have them altered.

Re: Yellow Rat

If you're a true 30 then the 32 will work just fine for you, trust me!

Look at the photos, the size difference is so negligible and the amount of necessary alterations would be about what's on par for any standard unfinished pant. I wouldn't put this much thought toward it. Try out the 32 and worst case scenario you can return them if they don't work out, though I can't see how that'd be possible. If you like, I can send you my 32's which I'd planned on returning.

Re: Yellow Rat

Update on the 33's as I've been wearing them for the past couple of days: the cut is not as ideal as the 32, I've realized. I was thinking the added quarter inch of roominess would be better suited but they actually look too wrong for five pockets. I'm going to need to taper them up to the same specs as the 32 when I return to SF. They look a bit silly around the ankles as is and I rarely wear anything with severe taper these days. The missus agreed. They don't look bad but they don't look right either. As for the rise, it's better than LVC's bedfords but still not as substantial as I'd like. I think I'm going to hang on to the 32's and look into sourcing some Bedford cotton. I'd like to have the 32's reproduced to exact specs with an added 2" in the rise, all around.

Re: Yellow Rat

Just noticed Oi Polloi have started stocking Yellow Rat in the UK

http://www.oipolloi.com/collections/yellow-rat/products/yellow-rat-pants-navy#product

Only one pair of the Bedford pants though in blue
-no measurements up yet

and prices look high compared to the US prices -they must have rowed that stuff across the pond

I think the maker actually surfed them across on his board.  That's why only the one pair.

I would probably go straight to the source, but I'm also annoyed that your man never got back to me?
