Can anyone give reference regarding his work?

Re: Steven Hitchcock

What is a master tailor anyway?  Can anyone call themselves one, or do they need to have a certain amount of experience.  I can't imagine that anyone should call themselves a master tailor unless they had been a cutter somewhere.  I saw a dreadful jacket on one of the other forums that really should have been consigned to a refuse bin too.  Why did you use an unknown quantity Marc, when you seem to have the wherewithall to get your suits made by the very best?

Re: Steven Hitchcock

Marc, what is the difference between fitting and cutting - I had always assumed that they were the same thing.

Re: Steven Hitchcock

Marc-

Would you put Mahon in the same catagory as Hitchcock, or is he the real deal?

Re: Steven Hitchcock

Marc,

The one tailor-shirtmaker that intrigued me is Oscar Udeshi ( he himself claimed he was trained by the last truly great Jermyn Street shirtmaker, although he never revealed who it was ), are you familiar with his stuff, and given you're not afraid of trying anything new, are you thinking of using him?

Re: Steven Hitchcock

I'd stick with my Jantzen and W.W. Chan.

Re: Steven Hitchcock

Sometimes I pass by the Secaucus transfer station when I am on the dreadful Amtrak train to Washington.  What I can not understand is the reason to name the station after the senator Lautenberg, he is not dead?  I know US is a young country, but is it possible that it already has exhaust names of dead politicans and historical figures?

Re: Steven Hitchcock

On the other hand, they renamed National Airport for Reagn before he was dead as well.  On further reflection, Houston's airport is named after George Bush.

And, yes, HArtmut, I agree with you.  It's an unseemly American practice to name public buildings after people whilst they're still alive.  Rampant egotism that may lean to embarassments later.

Re: Steven Hitchcock

Hello all.

I am very confused. Who is Mr. Hitchcock? He is some guy from Anderson and Sheppard?

Re: Steven Hitchcock

Mahon was a full fledged cutter at A&S - I believe Stephen Hitchcock was his striker

Re: Steven Hitchcock

Mr Mahon cutted while being the youngest cutter at A&S at that time, was allowed to cut for their most valued customer, HRH Prince Charles. He directly dealt with him...

Re: Steven Hitchcock

Which point brings me back to my original question Marc.  Can any tailor, perhaps having only been an alterations tailor in Savile Row, attach "Master Tailor"  to his business card or website?  In other words does it mean anything at all?

BTW I think this forum is most fortunate to have the benefit of your very considerable experience and good judgement.
