Anybody mentioned these here yet? Relaunching apparently, and made in Italy this time round. Nothing on their website yet, but the Weejun's posted on them, and they've got an Instagram page.

Discovered them a few weeks back when doing some additional research for the exhibit - decided not to post anything about them until they was a bit more info, then forgot. They do look interesting, though slightly odd that they didn't try launch with their 'famous' shoe?
If good, I might actually look at getting a pair - Desert boots have not been in my arsenal for some years.
Hard to tell from the couple of pics available isn't it? I like them in the main side-on shot, but don't like the creasing and curling in the forest shot. It looks as though the model's got a pair three sizes too big on.
That's not their shoe in the forest, but an example of what they view as a good DB.
Made in Italy - they do look like the Astorflex boots........... are they going to have a premium price?
Yeah premium always sets the alarm bells ringing...Astorflex are pretty good value IMO
The Astorflex look similar and are for sure the better value price wise. That said I was surprised how near my Vietnamese Dessies are to my old Made in England Dessies from the 90s...
I just picked up a pair of Astorflex desert boots for $120 Canadian a pair. If anyone is interested I can check for sizes and colours for you. PM me. Would only make sense to ship to Canada and the US, as I've shipped shoes to Europe/UK before and its pretty expensive. They are sized in Euro size and to my feet fit true to size if that helps anyone.
Yeah I'm the same - the Vietnam ones seem ok to me - maybe the old made in England ones were better but it's not as clear as say old Weejuns vs new plastic Weejuns
Win a free pair of Hutton dessies!

I've just ordered a pair using a promo code. I'll post my thoughts when they arrive.
No 1/2 sizes and fit info is a bit vague, so I'll skip this dance.
Will be very interested to hear some reviews.
The Astorflex's would take some beating on quality and price, the crepe sole on them feels 'right',
much like the crepe on the Padmore+Barnes shoes compared to modern ClarksWallabees.
Still puzzled by them doing a Desert Boot first and not the shoe they were famous for.
I know the fella too, Harpo.
I just sized up to a 43 from my usual 8.5 per the websites instructions, Acton. I figure at worst, if an exchange is necessary, it's still a substantial discount. I think I take a US 9 in my Vietnamese Clark's also.
If anyone's interested, my promo code was: SEAOFSAND
I don't think it's a limited edition run, I just think it's an early production run... I'm sure that the same boots will be available in the same color and in greater numbers several weeks from now. I'm hoping the package turns up before they sell out of all 100 pairs, but at worst, I'll take a future credit or refund and still maximize value from the savings, so I'm not too worried.
I bought a pair of these. They seem great. They claim that they only have 100 available, so they must have pretty much sold out. With discount the price was very good and I wonder if they could produce a PB how much more it would be? I suppose the added workmanship would add cost but does Italy have any track record of Playboy construction?
The owner of the Hutton name was at the open night for the exhibition, I had seen te DB's by then and meant to ask him about doin the signature shoe but he seemed a bit snooty - playing the big "I Am" but he might well be a nice bloke.
I'm not dissing the Hutton boots at all, they do look good.
I've already splurged on a few pair of Astorflex's early this year (when they turned up in the sales at the end of last summer at £75 a pair), so I'm not short of desert boots.
However what I really need is a brown suede pair with a natural coloured sole, hopefully that's a forthcoming option.
I'm just surprised how cheap a limited run of custom shoes are to make. To be able to produce a 100 pairs of varying sizes in decent quality and then flog them for 100 quid suggests that either Italian production costs are tiny compared to the uk, or Hutton is doing it at a very thin margin.
Just seen who the winner was, I linked him up! Haha.
