I'm sure revisiting some of The Andy Williams Christmas Show will provide plenty of inspiration.
Tricky ground for sure, get it right and it's a lifer, get it wrong and you look a clown.
I've yet to find one that is 100% right, but I know there is a lovely fair isle yoke knit out there for me somewhere.

bit traumatized by snowflake pattern sweaters as a child, now they're known everywhere as "ugly" sweaters .... but I never thought they were Cosby/Missoni-level ugly, more a comedy item ......
/\ that's nice, SenorBlues ....
Great Norwegian and Fair Isle stuff, but would you consider those Christmas jumpers? I know the general public does but to my mind Chirstmas jumpers are more novelty patterns or feature red/green.
I actually have a fair isle vest in seasonal colours from the Gap of all places, will post a photo up.

Yeah im liking it too...the grey is what is selling it...would look good with a blue ocbd imo
Thanks to the thread on bad websites I now know where to source Christmas trousers http://dann-online.com/castaway_clothing_embroidered_corduroy%20Trousers%20Dann.htm
Good people don't wear holiday themed knitwear!
This what Norwegians are for, people. I've got no problem with fair isles, though I wouldn't touch 'em, but please stay away from those old 1960's style Jantzen knits with reindeer and snowflakes embroidered on them. A navy/burgundy Shetland exudes as much as holiday spirit without you looking like a teenage mustachioed reject in tight pants and pink spectator frames. The Christmas sweater is the contemporary equivalent of the trucker hat and World's Greatest Dad t-shirts.
