Re: The Question of Sneakers

Not really the right shape or sole for me, pal gave me a pair but didn't like them, wore them to do chores - the rubber came away from the upper pretty quickly too, ended up at the charity store.

Re: The Question of Sneakers

Concur with T on this, got a cheap pair in the sales and although kinder on your heels with the 'padded collar'
they didn't survive too well only a few months before they started to really shabby.
There are some more 'collaboration' styles ( hopefully like the YMC and TheEnd limited editions) due for next Summer

Sperry UK website has blue CVOs for £42 at the mo, sale due to finish in the next few days.

Re: The Question of Sneakers

Thanks for the link, seems like it ticks most of the boxes, the sole is indeed pretty awful. Looks like I'll give these a try unless somebody has any other suggestions.

What's your view on this hybrid - part CVO part Purcell

The blue bit at the front kills it for me

Re: The Question of Sneakers

Got nine pairs of sneakers in four different shopping carts and am standing on the verge of getting it on

Can't get them all but some will be mine

Lusting on some Incontinence pants, N!ke, Vans, and Jackie Purcell

Will divulge more later, but I don't want my sneaks style bitten by no bumbaclaat

I know my sneakers/hoodies/hip-hop posse here will approve though

They're all in this thread in full force

But I do always have to order some Real Ivy whenever I binge on Casual

To maintain the cosmic balance

You of all peoples know what I mean

/\  yo ho ho Sly & RobbieB!

Rude Jamaican indeed, not Ivy, but:

Back in the proverbial day I and I used to lend mi royal blue/white nylon/leather Incontinence pants track spikes to a Jamaican teammate who ran a different event, and he did wind up at an Ivy university ....

How did we come to have this offensive unusual Jamaican slang curse in our vocabulary you ask?

From the relatively obscure Peter Tosh B-side of the same name ....

Jamaicans do love their Incontinence pants though.

Re: The Question of Sneakers

Sneakers ordered. Got a pair from a small shop that said, 4-7 days to process and 7-14 to ship. I am expecting them sometime in the Spring I guess. Jeesh.

Re: The Question of Sneakers

/\  nice job Oxy, those look classic ..... I'm after a pair of Roshe Cortez that have a similar look ....

been a long time since I bought a pair of N!kes but all of a sudden they've got some squash, tennis, and b-ball old-schools flying around that I can get with .....

Killshots, vintage-type Jordan 1s, Air Force 1, Tennis Classics, SB Blazer = all solid

also looking into ordering a pair of DIY Incontinence pants Gazelle, that's my true love, if only the liner wasn't that polyurethane that cracks so easily ....

going to do it anyway

I dislike paying $100 for a disposable item but I live in a sneaker town and that's the truth so there you have it

Re: The Question of Sneakers

/\  those are the most old-school cheap authentic vintage sneakers around,  they're like those that used to be sold from a wire spinning display rack at a five and dime

Yugoslavian army gymshoes or something..

I think you did well to go with the white Tom...they really work well in white with the metal eyelets

Re: The Question of Sneakers

What's the difference between the different models?

There's a "regular" Star Master and then a 10, 25, 42, 99 (looks like photo above) and YMC model.

Is this a heritage brand or just some modern company doing basic streamlined canvas sneakers?

I really like the military, brown and platan colors.

Re: The Question of Sneakers

/\  a traditional company collaborating with modern designers as they enter the US market this spring, one thing I read mentions that they're being made in the same factory using the "traditional machinery" they started with in 1939 in Slovakia ....
