Re: Hand-Made Bleeding Madras by yard

Does any have any one leads as to who might be large purchasers of our madras piece goods, please? Especially in Japan? What about Ralph Lauren? Can anybody here know anybody there we can contact re: selling RL our madras, please?

I'm talking manufacturers, not retailers per se. You get my point.

We were also contacted via another site by a prestigious manufacturer of mens clothing in Brooklyn, NY, about their manufacturing, distributing AND (more importantly) prompting sports jackets, mens trousers and walking shorts from our HANDWOVEN "BLEEDING" madras. Not Ivy strictly speaking. But, still making suits by hand which keeps in with our predilection for handmade goods.

We - to my knowledge - are the only dyers/weavers of the HANDWOVEN "BLEEDING" stuff, which to our way of thinking is the authentic stuff, i.e. which was all the rage in the US in particular in the 1960s.

Now: There is

powerloomed "bleeding" madras

as well as

powerloomed non-bleeding madras.

Both, are widely available. But, we're the only dyers/weavers of the "bleeding."

We have, however, moved into the production of those other varieties as well, which - again to the best of our knowledge gathered from diligent research - we can supply at the best prices and highest quality.

Would somebody also know/or find out how much powerloomed madras is exported from India and China monthly and/or annually, please?

Wasn't this stuff was flying out the door and we were the ones missing out by not getting in early ?

Wasn't Mercer biting you're hand off to get more fabric ?

Never worked out with Mercer to date; Serena told me it was a frustrating deal. I won't publicize my dealings with this guy, but would advise all to steer clear.

Re: Hand-Made Bleeding Madras by yard

Dave Mercer ordered maybe 40 yards and I ultimately ended up refunding his money.

My goal was to make a business of this which unfortunately 40 yards even a month does not make by which I mean selling between 100,000 and 1,000,000 yards a month of the handloomed and powerloomed "bleeding" madras  and the powerloomed madras check combined.

I was also seeking a partner to blow this out globally, which Mercer can not/will not do.

The lower end of that goal is now in sight with partners capable of blowing it out globally.

Dave Mercer shirts are made by a woman in Ohio. Very small operation. But, every shirtmaker certainly in the US has or is using her. Everyone certainly knows her. Making a handrolled, unlined collar isn't rocket science. Many shirtmakers can an do. Mercers fabric is OK, I guess. From China. Also available everywhere for under $4/yard wholesale, so you can imagine what the wholesalers pay + the cost of manufacture.

I will concede that POWERLOOMED "bleeding" madras is commonly available. We, however, are the only dyers/weavers of the HANDLOOMED "bleeding" fabric, which was what was ubiquitous in the 1960s and is the quintessential component of the so-called "Ivy League" wardrobe or way of dressing.

On the powerloomed "bleeding" madras and the powerloomed madras check, we believe ours is of higher quality and offered at better prices than is available from other dyers/weavers.

Thanks for all the help and encouragement received here.
