Re: Lean Garments

Dont get me wrong im.a big fan of the untucked shirt but its got to be a decent full cut shirt otherwise it looks like you wearing dolls clothes.

Re: Lean Garments

I like to roll up my chinos in the summer too but I wouldn't wear cropped chinos or pedal pushers....😃

You see I don't dig that look above. Reminds of the post-coitus scenes RomComs where the girls wear the guys shirt. I don't want to look that demure... Don't think it would suit me 😜

Re: Lean Garments

Just received my LG flannel popover, guys don't buy one. The sizing is really off, the cut is appalling and the collar suspect. Lean Garments are obviously moving toward some ridiculous tight fashion fit. I know my clobber and this is one to avoid.

Re: Lean Garments

That's disappointing to hear. I just wish they'd do another load of their original batch of popovers. I've got one but quite fancy another to cut down into a short sleeve but not if they're going to change the sizing and collar for the worse.

Re: Lean Garments

Sadly they are marketing it as te full Ivy shirt yet all I have heard is disappointment from te last couple of batches. Such a shame as they started off on the right track. Seems to me they have taken 'fashion' feedback and altered the cut, I was very tempted by one of their new popovers as a cheeky beater but I think I'll pass.

It looks like they are doing a jacket soon from what I have seen on SocMed - but if the current quality of the shirts is wrong God know what they will be like.

Re: Lean Garments

They are young guys (early 20s) so you can't blame them for going for a more modern/younger take on the Ivy look.

Sadly, think the 2.1 version of the shirts was the best. The sizing went awry after that.
This new popover looks all wrong to me - slim cut and short, i.e. to be worn untucked.

Re: Lean Garments

Looks like they are packing in the ivy stuff and are heading in a new direction. They've reduced their remaining stock and are planning to reappear in the winter. I was gonna get a popovers and cut into a short sleeve but have decided against it for now.

Re: Lean Garments

Funny how their original objective was to create the ideal OCBD ivy shirt at an affordable price, then having done a pretty decent job of that they just seemed to drift off course.

Re: Lean Garments

Very sorry to hear this too. It's odd, as it seemed (admittedly from their own emails) that their Ivy-inspired products had been flying off the shelves. I wonder what made them decide to take a new route.

I wonder what will become of their chino project as well...

Re: Lean Garments

There is that...and then there is the fact you could have had quite a loyal smaller clientele with a kosher product, or what might be two years worth of being on trend and then see the sales bomb when people move on from wanting your product ...well there are two ways to do it admittedly, neither is right or wrong just depends what your objectives are.

Re: Lean Garments

I found this mail from LG in my inbox:

Hello, we've got some news for you!

The bad news:

We’re closing down for a couple of months.

The good news:

We will be back, but with a changed product line & redefined concept. So if you liked the IVY-style version LEAN GARMENTS, you might want to make your final purchase.

Everything -30% and it lasts for the next 2 weeks – then the site closes. We need some more capital for funding our production. Take advantage of it.

Re: Lean Garments

The Ivy styled stuff sold quick on the short runs,
but they sold their spread collar shirts and chinos out even faster
(I also got the impression that they lost a lot of money on their Japanese made sweatshirts ).

Re: Lean Garments

I think they went too big on the last couple of runs for sure and had a stack of stock left. Still do too I think. Personally I'm not a spread collar fan, far too European for my tastes - hope they do well but think that's one less Ivy outlet.

Re: Lean Garments

I got a second bizarre e-mail about how they are going away but will return, and please buy the remaining stock.  They promise European manufacture and higher prices but admit that they may take a while to get their act together.

Re: Lean Garments

Indeed. Pitti seems more like a caricature of Italian style (if one was to call that 'Italian style', in the first place). I should probably get to buying a couple of popovers and a navy poplin soon before I regret having to go to Uniqlo for that.

Re: Lean Garments

I buckled and bought another popover which I'm gonna get cut down into a short sleeve. I didn't even have to put the shirt on to tell that the latest shirts are slimmer than the earlier ones and the collars are smaller. For that reason I'm going to get the newer one cut into a more casual short sleeve.

According to their latest email, they said that they have sold 4000 shirts in 2 years which isn't bad for a hobby by a couple of students who weren't even doing fashion related courses!
