Some nice chino wearing photos in this post on Muffy's Saltwater New England blog:

Few pictures of Muffy these days (sigh) but still a blog that I check on regularly.

Spied a pair of authentic khakis in MINT vintage in Dalston/Stoke Newington earlier, they were size 32 zip fastening proper full cut princely sum of £45 if you are near by Tommy.

Re: The wider 50s/ The Korean War Chino

Looking good Tom, though I'd prefer a slimmer cut, probably 8.5 and below. Wonder if I could get a pair of those over here, 20 quid (around $40 here) even with alterations seems like a pretty good deal to me, especially considering the rise. Would'a liked a photo without the sweatshirt to see how the proportions would play out.

There are 3 shots there, 2 without the sweat.

Obviously this is the wider leg chino thread hence posting here, no reason you couldn't taper more though.

Toyed with the idea of the cuff woof but all my other trousers have them and fancied these to be more casual, like JFK on the boat, hoping they wash out and soften up for that look.

Great stuff T,
I've ordered a couple of pair to experiment with after Xmas.

Re: The wider 50s/ The Korean War Chino

Similar to what I guess is regular chino cotton, although I no longer have my Stan Ray's I seem to remember them being a similar weight.

I don't have any of the others to compare, but at £20 it's not a bank breaker.

If anyone in the UK has a Costco near them, they are selling Dockers with a nice wide leg and reasonably high rise. Not dissimilar to these Tom.

They are also permanent press.Picked up a pair last week for £25

Chinos look great Tom, well done. I've been wearing my Korean War era khakis quite a bit lately. I haven't messed with the fit, but then I am a flapperizerer myself these days, haha..

Ha, if they were original I would have left them, think there is decent flappage - will of course look for some actual Korean era numbers too.

Bump for this thread. Not sure if these have been mentioned.
Too wide a hem for me but great rise and cinch back.
The suspender buttons are concealed on the inside of the waistband and are just standard plastic ones so look like they could be removed easily. Or just ignored and not utilised.
The rest of the gear...not for me.

Re: The wider 50s/ The Korean War Chino

Anyone who's had any experience with buying the real deal - 50's-60's khakis supplied by the military? I've gotten into a little wider cut lately, 11" rise and 8.5-9" leg opening is my sweet spot. Been thinking about picking up a pair from ebay, if I can find any...

Re: The wider 50s/ The Korean War Chino

Yup, I have two pairs and love them - high rise, wide leg for sure. I usually wear them in my ILSFT outfits. What's your waist size, I have another pair that's a 29" waist, too small for me. Hard to find them for cheap because all the aesthetic vintage stores snap them up and sell them for $100 sad

kylepw rocks 'em too...

Re: The wider 50s/ The Korean War Chino

Sounds good! I usually wear 30-31" trousers so they would probably be a little tight. sad  Hopefully I'll be lucky and find a pair with a reasonable price!
