Dreeeeam, dream, dream, dream

I have been talking lately about the gap between what you might want and what you might get from an ivy point of view these days. I've certainly got a hit list or a "grail" list call it what you like. Anybody else the same? I want a Hopsack jacket. A really Ivy fabric. But I want it with certain very specific Ivy details. Hopsack is Ivy as can be. Where is my dream jacket?

Order from USA - O'Connells for example or accept that some RL, H&J, Keydge etc or MTM is way to go in UK.  I may be wrong but recall H&J doing such a jacket as you describe, which can be seen here or at their FB page and from your other post, you probably already know that.  Hope you eventually fulfill your dream!

A good couple of pairs of white athletic socks with stripes.

Chip, check out Socco if you haven't already. They make a classic 70s athletic sock with red and blue stripes...

Re: Dreeeeam, dream, dream, dream

Speaking of OC, can anyone point me in the direction of some lighweight chinos? I have the plain front cotton twill trousers, but I'm pretty sure that they will be to warm to wear in the summer, so I'm looking for a lighter alternative. Does anyone have the OC poplin trousers?

Sancho—I'm a very long time lurker, but your question has pulled me out of the shadows. The OC poplins have far too much polyester in the blend, at least for my taste. On one hand, they're almost impossible to wrinkle, despite their lightness; on the other, they feel unnaturally stiff and they make an embarrassing nylon-like whiffing when you walk. Final flaw: they have ridiculously shallow pockets. If you're looking for lightweight, go with the OC dress cottons. They cost the same as the twills, but they're much more comfortable for summer.

This is what I have: http://www.oconnellsclothing.com/O-Connell-s-plain-front-Cotton-Dress-Gabardine-Trousers-Khaki.html

Dress cotton gabardine trousers, I guess is what they're officially called. They are indeed comfortable in warm temps.

Re: Dreeeeam, dream, dream, dream

To add to Stan's comments, I've always found the approx. 50/50 cotton/poly poplins to be quite acceptable. 65% poly is too high.
As for poplins, I wear Bill's. They too make a sound when I walk. I've always assumed that it was due to the nature of the fabric.
Tan poplin trousers can pair well with a lightweight navy blazer on the hottest of summer days. OC's has lightweight dress options in a few $$$ choices.
Until then, let's hope your local noise ordinances don't start to regulate noisy fabrics and clothes.
