The 20th century style that emerged within the elite universities of the United States has became one of the most powerful templates for both casual and business dress throughout the world. From its elitist origins, through its influence on Hollywood and its radical transformation via the Jazz musicians of the 1950s and 1960s, this exhibition traces that development and demonstrates how it has influenced the output of the British footwear industry. Having preserved and continued to invest in local craft and production skills, Northamptonshire makers now lead the world in the production of Ivy inspired shoes.'
I hope to see this maybe tomorrow after work or Tuesday. Pictures on-line look interesting so hope I can make it. What did you think of it WB?
Definitely worth a visit, very interesting and some nice items on display. Plus of course an opportunity to enjoy the excellent company of the learned Tomiskinky. The exhibition is housed in an anonymous old terraced house with wonky floors just off Bishopgate, so you feel like you are taking part in something quite secret.
Shame the Shooman can't slip along there!
Cheers WB. Will try and dob in maybe Tuesday. It is a bit of a jaunt for me now but looks worth it. Trouble is I worked just around the corner for many years. When I was there the place was not the lively centre of London life it is now with all the clubs and pubs and bars and indeed galleries. Glad you enjoyed it fella.
I shall be dancing in a cage there tomorrow night methinks....
Slinkadelic!
