Various and sundry bespoke suits, sport jackets, and coats made by different tailors
Davide Cenci safari-type shirt jacket
Few dozen Ascot Chang shirts
Barbour jacket
Several Hermes and Charvet neckties
JM Weston brown suede brogue shoes
Two Paul Stuart wool coats
Davide Cenci bear coat

Re: Wardrobe deletions?

Too many shoes.  I would like to have more focused lineup.
I bought J Crew ties for a while.  I now think the colors are too vibrant for Mr. Middle Aged.
There are some checked sport coats that I don't seem to wear.

Re: Wardrobe deletions?

Its a New Year thing perhaps.

I have been giving some of my older pieces a new lease of life (where possible) with a little re-tailoring.  You know, that shirt where the sleeves were always just a bit too long or the trousers that were not quite right around the arse.

Still been chucking out some pieces.  A couple of ties that lacked style or too vibrant colours.  Some knitwear, a sweatshirt and some 'designer' jeans!

You have to be ruthless with your species deceases, there comes a time if it ain't being used and won't be used again, or something that was at the extreme of fashion, or that special event isn't ever going to happen to get rid.

Re: Wardrobe deletions?

I have a tweed jacket from Cordings which looks as if it is striped rather than checked ("Zetland" is the model), so a winter version of a boating jacket.

Re: Wardrobe deletions?

For a second I thought ol' Grayson was back!

One thing I can't part with is ties, though I probably should.  Since I've often (and almost always -- save a few failures) had very good taste, I find myself not getting rid of many.

Grayson soared high -- when you were on Grayson's level, you're bound to have made a few more blunders and thus more to toss.

White shirts have to go when they turned grey.

I also noticed that having to many items of the same kind, it doesnt make sense.

Re: Wardrobe deletions?

Maybe a navy blue suit de-clownized the bow tie?

Just a bow tie, no suit, naked?

Tempting.

Re: Wardrobe deletions?

I find it difficult to admit to myself that I have made a mistake. Often I keep stuff for years, waiting for that special moment to wear them. As we all know, that strategy is so wrong.

And that is why I am currently pruning my wardrobe again.
