Great GIs in 10.5C, although unfortunately someone has desecrated the bottoms of them.

I hope Stan in particular can get some vicarious pleasure from the photos.

thanks Yuca, I saved a few of these ...

Barrie was a nice shop ... over the years I bought several pairs of shoes there, most notably a pait of plain-toe bluchers very similar to the ones pictured, made in England, but with single soles and in a slightly darker brown, and in my senior year I wore them a lot, and in fact I still have them, decades down the road ....

they're still wearable but they're semi-retired and are kept in the archive box

Re: Ebay / Etsy alert

They certainly look pretty decent. I got a pair of Florsheim Royals brown GIs a while ago and, much as I love my Florsheim longwings, the GIs have the edge imo. The best shoes I have ever owned, in fact. These look to be of similar quality and character.

I'm the seller. I've been lurking here forever. Not sure why I don't post.

When I came across these shoes, I immediately recalled Stan's posts about Barrie. I probably wouldn't have recognized these shoes otherwise!

I'm wondering about the Vibram soles. Is that something that Barrie might have offered? The insides of the shoes look unused. There are marks on the outside but that could be from handling. These shoes seem to have had too little use to need a resole. Well, I guess someone might have gotten them resoled even though they didn't need it.

I've never heard of people back in the day resoling new / ish shoes with Vibram or similar, but there are certainly posters / former posters on here that believe in such crimes against civilization.

Re: Ebay / Etsy alert

I haven't perused Ebay in quite a while, so imagine my surprise. There are some vintage, new in the wrapper, Makers on Ebay. Some interesting, used ones are posted as well. Some prices are decent; other prices are steep. I won't post the links, as I have managed to step on others' toes in the past. Good luck and happy hunting.
