As a Halloween special on QUEST TV in the UK this afternoon, the wonderful The Blob (1958).
McQueen in a button down over a white tee, buckle back high rise navy chinos and a natural suede bomber
Shame the acting is as wooden as a wooden thing in lumber yard
Gregory Peck - academic Ivy prof in 'Arabesque'?
David Jansen - rumpled Ivy PI as 'Harry O'?
last night watched Godard's Sympathy For the Devil (One + One) and am miffed I can't find a pic of Charlie Watts wearing his button-down collar shirt at the drum kit but he's in there wearing a beautifully rolled collar in some sequences .......
/\ meant to post that Charlie Watts in buttondown-collar Ivy shirt sighting in Sympathy For the Devil, or /One + One, in the "Unexpected Ivy in movies" thread ....
Sympathy for the Devil the film is experimental, not unwatchable. Besides Charlie's buttondown-collar shirt (unfortunately the stills I've found show him in exaggerated point collars, not the button-down) and some shots of Bill in a couple of fairly Ivy woolen sweaters, Godard himself was wearing Ivy, maybe not exclusively, because there are some shots of him on set in French designer fashion, but frequently, and was photographed on set wearing buttondown collars, sacks, fly-front raincoats, tattersall, and Ivy eyeglasses, with the occasional two-button sport coat with one sleeve-button and jet pockets thrown in for a bit of sleaze.
In the recording studio the Stones are in expensive hippie finery mixed with Tommy Nutter, Mr. Fish, and the like, including an insane printed shirt with a repeating razor blade motif, which contrasts sharply with the '68 mix of militant streetwear, denim, and fatigues seen in the rest of the film.
Amazing clothing throughout.
