I find this fairly cringey...it's a long-winded dive into the mind of a guy who found iGent-ism as his salvation.

Clothing can indeed be akin to a religious revelation. Looking at my shoe collection on a Sunday morning I have been known to hold a fine gauge wool sock to my forehead and exclaim "I am well Heeled!"

I experienced my first feelings of passion for clothing when I was about 14 years old.

Who did actually ask for that bit of information?

Instead of a comment, I would like to refer him to Roosh V, Chateau Heartiste and Return of Kings. They can tell him a lot about "good girls".

As you can imagine, I like blues and greys. He is West Coastie so they probably are used to lighter and earthier colors. Plus, he doesnt seem to work in a work environment that requires tailored clothing... of any shade.

Let's be happy the man has found some solace in a constructive hobby which no matter what the taste level or expense is certainly better than drinking oneself sick.

For a chap who is striving to be an exemplar of style, I wish he would tie his neckties so that the rear blade is not substantially longer than the front, but maybe that's his idea of sprezzatura or something of that sort.

Seems like a decent sort, though, so we probably shouldn't be hard on him.

Funny how these things catch on isn't it? I currently wear my boxershorts in a similar fashion with the larger of my two testicles dangling out one of the leg openings. Why not both you may ask? Well where would the style be in that?

What the hell, I kind of like the guy.  He was always a worthy opponent.  Maybe the mists of time makes the heart grow fonder...

I agree on both points. What intrigues me is whether or not people will actually pay him to tell them what to wear: http://mydapperself.com/

Ahh, my local #menswear grifter has a similar "image consulting" hustle going, though I don't understand why anyone would want advice from someone whose entire image has been constructed around childhood trauma + cosplay.

Just looked into Ollis' style consulting business. A charge of $150 for an hour's consultation. Hell, back in my day, you could buy an hour's services from a pretty high-grade whore for that amount or less (but that was a while back. I'm an old man now). One wonders why anyone would pay such charges when the larger menswear fora are teeming with iGents ready to tender all sorts of advice--good, bad or indifferent--entirely for free.

Re: Inane Overdrive-Brave New World Edition, 2013 and Beyond

I don't get why anyone would pay for this kind of service from a person who by their own admission learned everything they know in a very short amount of time from other, one would assume more qualified, people. Cut out the middleman and go to the same places they did to get all *their* knowledge.

But it's all a culture of sameness. They all try to dress like Style Icons, but they really just all look alike. Once you know the right pieces of the wardrobe, you have the look. So in the end it doesn't matter where you get the info from - you're just trying to impress all the other people who look exactly like you anyway.

If I'm honest, most of my clients want to dress like a young Lupin the 3rd, so I'm lucky.
