Re: Ivy League style for today

For older readers, Aran jumpers have an unfortunate association with The Clancy Brothers folk group.

The Dubliners on the original LP covers just used to wear Harris tweed jackets with a white shirt - a much better look.

Donegal tweed is much more versatile though they missed a trick by not getting a trademark like the Harris tweed orb.

Another theme is provenance. It matters to some people but not others. You can buy a genuine Guernsey sweater though other areas produce ganseys. Or you could just buy something called a Guernsey that looks OK.

Re: Ivy League style for today

Today: lounging around the apartment in heavyweight navy Kellsport sweatpants and an old gray LL Bean t-shirt... Later putting on an old and incredibly soft Bean 65/35 tattersall with c-buckle belt, chinos and blucher mocs to venture out into what is (for today at least) feeling like actual fall weather, around 64F...

woof, you're killing it! i find i also like wearing tartan ocbds at this time of the year. southwest ontario stays annoyingly warm (during the day) through this stretch of fall, and so i'm not quite ready to make the switch to flannel yet. miss the weather in blighty, for sure, though i may be the first to ever utter those words.

berkeley - your fitness goals are all too familiar.

barbour quilted waistcoat (actually just a beaufort liner. i like its shape more than lands end or bean or even barbour vest. it's cut like a waist coat, so it lacks the really big and chunky collar. it's also fleece with a nylon shell, rather than down, so more packable and adaptable in the rapidly changing weather)
polo university stripe ocbd (blue & white)
lands end traditional fit cords (burgundy)
red wing 875s (at least 10 years old now, and really looking it)
