Re: Flannel trousers

Hello

I don't have an answer to this, but I'd like to piggyback on this excellent topic/question... My criteria are exactly the same, I've been counting on shelling out for O'Connell's but would welcome any info on acceptable cheaper options...

Re: Flannel trousers

Thanks McGeorge Bundyburger, more than likely they will be made in China/India etc at that price but I will check them out if nothing else turns up.

Berkeley_Breathes - I ordered a pair from Winebergs who do 'made to measure' so if you are based in the UK and confident you can supply measurements for them to copy they might work for you. Unfortunately I found their customer service to be very poor, 2 months+ to receive a pair and I'm *sure* they shortened them more than I asked for which has left them unwearable.

Re: Flannel trousers

Hi TC, you could try George's Tailors of Wightman Road N4. He will make trousers to your specification, just take a pic, or a pair you'd like copied along. He normally charges around £100 plus fabric. You can buy good quality flannel from around £30 for a trouser length. You could get the Drakes trouser copied for around £130 and they would be made to measure.  I've used him many times over the years and have never been disappointed.

Re: Flannel trousers

Check Peter Christian. Beyond the slightly gimmicky  look  of the site their trousers are good quality and may have a decent option.  They last and keep their shape with a range of fabrics.

Re: Flannel trousers

I'm also in the market for another decent pair of RTW flannels, ideally in grey (hence my first post - hi! - though I've lurked for a little while). The only pair I have are from Jack Wills, of all places, after they had some ridiculous wool promotion last month. They have a decent rise, at least, but are a little slim fitting.

Re: Flannel trousers

If anything, they should have a full range of waist sizes at the very least. At least the inseam can be hemmed, that's not nearly as important as the waist size.

Re: Flannel trousers

Used tae buy some stuff fae Peter Christian fur my Da before he died.

They mainly cater fur the "mature gent" which is probably why they dinnae dae Mothercare sizes tae fit midgets.

They kept mailin' me after my Da wis gone n' ah've recently invested in some cotton drill & moleskin breeks fur masel',

Sizin' seems tae be relatively true n' no a bad rise oan them n'aw.

Re: Flannel trousers

Revising this thread - I bought two pairs of Orvis flannel trousers in their NY sale which are very good.
Look and feel right, I'm pleased. Formal separate trousers of reasonable quality are disappearing as work wear gets ever more casual.
They have good length options too, down to the half inch.

Re: Flannel trousers

I'll be buying more trousers from them for sure - the chinos are good, now the flannels.
