/\  some Deansgate has excellent natural shoulders, very great score KPW

I'm guessing from the look of it that it's from mid-'66

Thanks. The tag didn't have a price but some weird numbers like a "38," so I'm guessing it's a size 38, although it fit me in the shoulders and I usually wear 36S. Maybe your dad knew the shop? I don't think the shop is around anymore, unfortunately

*His* dad might have known it, my dad was six in 1966... Very cool find, I'm a big fan of regional stuff. When I was in college in upstate NY the thrift shops around school had tons of suite, blazers and overcoats from upstate NY shops, all gone now... Pieces of history just as much as an old Press jacket or Brooks shirt...

John Simons was talking to me about this one day. Every smalltown USA had its mens outfitters shop, they used to call them 'button down shops'.

One time he was travelling in upstate NY and saw a sign outside such a shop that said 'Natural Shoulder Spoken Here'.... and he thought I'm going to nick that slogan and use it in my London shops!

That is a fantastic find, Kyle - more proof that great boom years items are still finding their way to vintage clothes shops, too.

NOS L.L. Bean flannel in the classic Royal Stewart Tartan. Still in the original packaging. Just in time for the holidays.

Just snapped this up on the bay of plenty.
Really hoping it fits. Can see it getting lots of wear next spring.

I have the same jacket, bought off here I think.. Gets much summer use, mainly with fresh out the pack white tee or navy polo, Bedford 5ps & dessert boots and of course my Cutler & Gross 0328s

Excellent. That's roughly the plan here too.

Picked up these vintage Hanover recently, also scored some rather wonderful white buck saddles but they are still stateside and will most likely be used for the exhibition.

It was a link from a FB message I had with ActonB - was easier than messing about with flickR etc to post an image already online. Maybe that was why the link broke FB are always messing with their site code.

Re: Recent Old Ivy Finds

What am I thankful for this year? Among many other (and more important, I tell myself) things... the four vintage LL Bean OCBDs I picked up recently, all but one beautiful poly/cotton blends made in the U.S. of A.... They have their imperfections, as we all do, but I love 'em... The pink and blue banker stripe is especially beautiful...

https://s26.postimg.org/cu1ta3nex/IMG_1908.jpg

This shirt was made in Hong Kong... Single needle tailoring 55/45 cotton/poly blend, noticeably lighter fabric than the others which are 60/40 (I have picked up a couple all-cotton vintage Bean OCBDs but they're rarer to come across than the blends)... A beautiful fabric though, and like new:

What else, you may ask? This Brooks Brothers "346" brown tweed jacket, 3/2, patch pockets and 2 on the cuff... The sleeves need to be altered (I have long arms) but once that's done it will fit like the proverbial glove...

https://s26.postimg.org/gk1g2zz9l/IMG_1918.jpg

And of course the incredible Southwick I posted in the ILSFT thread the other day... 3 buttons on the cuffs, 3/2... A beautiful light brown fabric with blue mystery threads... In perfect condition everywhere... Label in the pocket still reads "Mr_________" with no name...

https://s26.postimg.org/b13hzirm1/IMG_1921.jpg

Apologies as always for my terrible photography... The yellow lighting did a number on the color of these fabrics but rest assured you'll be seeing them often in the ILSFT thread...

Haha, that's awesome! Looks pretty good with the roll actually... Not really a 4/3 though, right? 4/2, surely...

Just picked up a Brooks 346 3/2 camel hair sport coat on eBay, with 2 sleeve buttons and patch pockets. $45 including shipping... It will be showing up in the ILSFT thread, never fear...

A couple thrift finds from the past few weeks. Pretty excited about this pair of NOS authentic madras pants. They’re in mint condition. I love the tag that states; “Slubs and misweaves which appear in this fabric are not considered imperfections. They are inherent properties of this cloth and contribute to its uniqueness and natural beauty.” If you're a fellow thrifter you live for finding stuff like this.

Also picked up a couple of these 60/40 LL Bean ocbd’s. Complete with flap pockets and a little slot for a pen. Flicking the Bean thread approved.

Finally, there’s the tried and true, blue Makers ppbd from Brooks Brothers. I have too many already but I will always make room for another.
