Re: Recent Old Ivy Finds

Jackets with a really large distances between buttons seems to have been a period thing. The Japanese still offer it from some of their clothing companies (some have been posted previously on FNB). I have never seen it available from modern-day American companies though.

I like the casual shirt. Strong patterns should have a place in casual weekend wear.

Oh, regarding natural shoulders: I've maintained that the sleevehead attachment area is the key issue, not the shoulder padding. Actually, padding is needed to extend past the shoulder seam to give the natural wrap over the shoulder.

Beautiful stuff.

Do you mind my asking where you pick up these goodies? Online or from vintage/ thrift stores? I have a hard time finding anything decent on eBay.

Re: Recent Old Ivy Finds

Cheers for that.

Living in the UK I don't come across Ivy stuff in thrift/ charity shops so am reliant on US eBay.

Picked up a couple of decent suits - got a 60s Chipp effort that fits like a dream and an olive Brooks poplin that I like a lot.

Got to keep looking!

Re: Recent Old Ivy Finds

My new sack haul, funded by the sale to Moose of some vintage suits.  Nobody wins unless everybody wins.

I like comparing the lapel widths, button stances, shoulder lines... All are wondefully diverse. Nothing 'Humdrum' here.  wink

Re: Recent Old Ivy Finds

out of curiosity, do these all fit you or are you buying as a collector just to have them?

if they do fit, I'd love to see some fit pics to see what they look like worn since there's such a visual disparity between garments hung and actually worn

Re: Recent Old Ivy Finds

Didn't BoO state somewhere that it's a bit of a hit and miss. I've ordered one blazer and one suit online, I was lucky with both. The hardest and most important thing is to get the shoulders right, since that's hard to get altered. I might actually post in the wants section soon... if anybody has a sack jacket with 16.5 inch shoulders.

I've always loved the Brooks two button cuff.

Re: Recent Old Ivy Finds

I moved the other Ivy Find thread to this side and merged it with the Ivy Finds Continued thread. Apologies if the sequence doesn't quite make sense but there was a point when they were both active so read carefully. smile
