International cinema vs Classic Hollywood style

Greetings fellow film friends, I bear your intelligence for just a moment!

Im working on a thesis and could use some input..

What im trying to do is discuss film trends in the in the present/post WWII era mid to late 40's

Two of the four films I've chosen to juxtapose are Stray Dog (Kurosawa, 1949) and Double Indemnity (Wilder, 1944)

The other two are Rome, Open City (Rossellini 1945) and Casablanca (1942)

If you'll notice the first two films were based on post war events, and the other two are based on during the war events.

The immediate thought would be write about how different the styles are.. i.e. Italian Neo Realism vs Classic Hollywood

but in my case I want to explore just the opposite, how the international films have been influenced by Hollywood conventions.

I already have some strong fights concerning these films (hollywood conventions show in international film by the style of editing, very linear.. invisible)

Like I mentioned before, any help would be very much appreciated.. just need a second opinion!

Thanks!
