Re: Fragrance as an accessory

Forget aftershave. Use The Art of Shaving moisturizing balm instead. You can get unscented, and even the scented stuff won't overpower cologne.

PB, that properly belongs in the Literary Quotes thread. Or is it already there?

In any case, watch for it over on advanced itiotas in space.

THIS IS NOT AN EXIT.

Ziefgield, you might want to check out www.nantucketnatural oils.co. They have a vitamin e based after shave that contains no alcohol, and no scent if you want something that won't clash with another fragrence.

They can blend in almost any fragrence that you want, if you want a scent. There is no copyright infringement, since it is not possible to patent a fragrence, only a brand name. eg, you could not sell Christian Dior, eau savage, unless it was the real thing.

However, if you want the Nantucket Fragrance Bar shave lotion with the eau savage scent, it works quite well.

If you are interested, you might try a small bottle. I would suspect that shipping to the UK would work. They are a very reputable people, if you decide to give them a try.

Re: Fragrance as an accessory

I use witch hazel for after shave, is that not a good idea?

I also got this Lanvin cologne called Arpege, it's light and powdery.

Any opinions about this scent?

Creed Millesime Imperiale

Lots of reviews here but you never know what to trust.

Re: Fragrance as an accessory

I am suspect of reveiwers that think they are unique to afford a 150 bux for an item and that others cannot afford it.

I suggest you cannot judge what you like by others opinions at anyrate and also that you find a tester or a magazine offering a swatch or send a tissue to the company and ask them to return you a spray of it and decide on your own.

Suds folks have used witch hazel for 100 years prior to this young crowd being born to have an opinion on it and it never hurt any of them.

Re: Fragrance as an accessory

Would you think the popularity is gaged by how many are buying it or how many actually like it?  The reviews seem to indicate that the reviewers may be in the minority in that they think no one is wearing it and no one can afford it.

I wonder if reviews are typically done by folks that are just poor people with out means so they have time due to not working to over come the poverty.

I have found that while this forum and a couple other small ones seem to be full of elitist but the mainstream ones are full of the medicority and not anyone with more money than time.

Maybe its a false view I have.

Re: Fragrance as an accessory

I am all for real eletist web sites and how they can add a positive impact to the world of those that may settle for mediocrity if not for sites like this.

I am not yet sure if taste, talent and money are connected or not yet as I have so little of them all but I am imagining that talent may have caused the meneyed class to have it most often when it was not inherited.

Classic scents is what I am about and classic sense as well.  These vaulted tribal signals do not impress me a lot and the screams of the masses generally is a good to run for some silence.

Such silliness is bringing logical banking to a stand still in the past week but that is a bit off scent I suppose.
