Now Autumn is approaching it will soon be time to get the Shetland sweaters out. I'd like to add to my small but cherished Laurence J Smith collection, but what compares in construction, heft and shaggyness - Anderson Everest, Press Shaggy, O'Connells; any others?
I think Aran would be too heavy. Perhaps heft was the wrong word. Loft perhaps? And I'll throw in heather/marl/flecks too? JS had some last year, that I believe were made in the same mill, but nothing in my size.
Ah Woolovers bawneens !
Should only be worn in the cream colour. For that 1960 trendy Irish husband at Sunday Mass look.
Still I am am happy that the fine town of Kiltimagh now has a colour named after it. Makes a change from all the negative connotations.

I think I've got the standard model. As LJS went out of business several years ago, what's the link with Laurence Odie? Do they produce for O'Connells and Press? Would still be very interested to hear how they/the Everest compare with LJS too.
this is going to be my knitwear of choice this winter

with a tattersall, olive five pockets & chukkas
I'm going to order the Everest, as they appear to be favourably received. Do they fit to size or do I go up/down?
