If i was driving in the 50s, it would be a Cadillac or a Buick. Maybe a nice '52 chevy or ford. Back when American cars were good.
1960 Corvette convertible.
So, roadsters, spiders and small convertibles are the ideal Ivy cars.

A choice between the Willys Jeep, two and half tonner, and the M1 Sherman. Most post war Ivy leaguers were on the GI Bill, or had served.
Funnily enough, there's two Willy Jeeps in the village I live in. One's immaculately and lovingly preserved, the other is in a state of some neglect.
The bubble car as driven by that most Ivy of actors Ian Carmichael. He can 'rock' the rumpled look with the best of them. Who can forget his duffle coat?
As Terry-Thomas points out ''An absolute shower! Sort of chap who wears American clothes.''

Maybe an imported roadster for the bachelor, but what was the family man driving?
I'd throw in Volvo station wagons, Saab or Land Rovers. For a ride on the weekend a Porsche 356. Or 911.
