It's one of my favourite motion pictures, but the wailing about this suit can really get quite insufferable.  I remember that when I posted on AAAC someone managed to estimate the PANTONE colour code of the suit and everyone got quite over-exuberant.

Two points:

i)  The film is in Technicolor.  I don't think the colours would have actually looked like that in reality.  Everything has a slightly grey-ish hue about it (which contributes to the athmosphere of the movie).  It's a bit like assuming that Fred Astaire dressed exclusively in black and white.

ii)  The suit might look really good on Mr. Grant, as he carries a deep tan, black hair with a hint of grey etc.  If worn by your average forum user (me included), likelihood is that the ensemble would make your face looking pale as vomit.  And quite boring, unless you have a face as well-defined as Grant's.  Not recommendable.
