Zippered Knitwear ?
Declared NOT TRAD by the very well informed Gentlemen (*Ahem*) of that forum, along with Corduroy Suits...
... Only buttons are TRAD, not zips...
Meanwhile, back in reality, heavy gauge knitwear with zips are very 1930's - Quarter zipped items especially...
Today I wore a vintage full zip cable number with side pockets just like a jacket with a Mock Turtle neck on the beast too...
Can't say that I didn't feel Ivy... But I was very happy not to feel TRAD...
I kept a FOTL White T. & a Pendleton beneath. Downstairs I was all Cords & Cordovan. Like a Mutha.
Here's to 1930's Ivy - And heavy gauge zippered knitwear.
And Poo on stupid Internet TRAD.

I just don't like cold jagged metal zippers and the stiffness they impart. The more hearty and rugged the knitwear is, the less objectionable a zipper becomes as it goes from a fashion item to a functional item.

I'd love a medium weight zipped polo neck sweater - very 30s/40s for me. I like the way the collar is wide and falls back on your shoulders - looks great with a shirt & tie. Can't seem to find one these days...only option is this one:

Nautical is good. I've a North Sea Clothing submariner on my wish list from Santa.
Zips on knitwear are most certainly an acquired taste. Ivy or not I can't see myself wearing one but I know a few on here who could pull the look off.

I am wearing a full zip heavy cable knit top with corduroy front and side pockets today. It's very 50's but Ivy...? Don't think so.
It is very warm though and with snow falling outside and the fucking central heating kaput I am fairly indifferent 
.
Even a stopped clock gives the right time twice a day...

JFM rated it as kosher Ivy. The only example I've owned was a Shetland in contrasting colours (burgundy with charcoal), bought on a Breton holiday in 2010. I was glad of it on the ferry on the way home. Does it have any current admirers? Yuca?

Whether or not it's ivy I don't know but I wouldn't ever buy one. Even a shawl collared cardigan is too complicated for my knitwear tastes. Plus the zip makes it too similar to a fleece for me.
I did glance recently at a long-winded, pompous, idiotic article on IS declaring that fleeces (and jeans) are now ivy. (I think. It was too torturous to read properly.) A perfect read for anyone wanting to lose the will to live. Come back Chens, all is forgiven.

Excellent. Very funny. 'Come back, Chens...' In fact, I think Jimbo counted fleeces - to my bemusement - as 'Ivy'. Couldn't quite see it myself. My old Dad used to wear fleece-lined Javelin jackets in navy blue. Kept out the cold - but 'Ivy'? I don't think so. What'd be next? North Face coats? No, no, no. As for jeans, well, they're just jeans. Even my grandmother used to wear them.
