as with a lot of sartorial matters .. as well as perhaps with women you may meet   .. once you try them out the novelty quickly wears off 3: the sole is not well balanced ie it narrows into the midsection v agressively so your weight is not distributed through the sole evenly .. thats my main bug bear with them.   

they are a loafer so they are going to look casual naturally, but they are especially casual as they are so low profiled. this means they dont work well with some of the things i wear .. like a heavy austrian loden coat over a suit (one of my new found favourite garments). they look odd as they are almost flat and quite dainty for want of another word .. 
incongrous with wide shouldered masculine suits, as well as the long heavy loden coat mentioned..

this brings me to another qs for anyone with an answer .. why does a higher shoe with a decent heel look more formal (and dare i say it more elegant) that one with a v shallow heel (like the gucci loafer)? Trying to work this out but cant think of a good reason for it other than it just seems to?
