The most shocking thing for me is not how these guys dress but this comment:
"The music on my phone and in my head, the might GREEN, from Chicago, not exactly mod, but they would have fit right in in Swinging London, they are so good they are almost the American Kinks! Yes, really! I first saw them in the mid-80s, and they have never ever quite gone away. God bless them!"
Here is Green, last Saturday at Fitzgerald's in Berwyn, Illinois:

I guess you can take the Gunter out of "Jim", but there is no way to take "Jim" out of Gunter.

There's certainly art in building bespoke clothes but, unlike cars and watches, the art is for one person only. Even bespoke cars and watches could be used by other people.
True. What I lack is the reverence for the clothes on a hanger. To me they are to be worn, enjoyed and made to live. That's my lack of the aesthetic curator's POV.
A case in point: The fetish for the old Troy buttondown taken to the point when the shirts are never worn because they can't be replaced. Not my way. But we're all different.

Well worth saying then.
You really want there to be a 'Jim' don't you ? Why ?
I'm too bored to reply.

Not this shit again.
Gunter could easily be Jim. He could easily not be Jim. Therefore I propose we give him the benefit of the doubt, to avoid alienating a new member and boring the rest of us shitless. Let's move on.
Ditto whether Taylor really is Taylor (who just happens to come out with the exact same crap his dad does).
As somebody who posts fairly regularly on the ILST thread on TI I too think that a bit of constructive criticism would't go amiss there many a times. GW has acted as our watchdog before, and his opinions are highly valued as he generally knows what he's talking about. None of us gets it right all the time (with the possible sole exception of Harpo and 12BB), and it is good to be told when we are not.
I also hear what Bop is saying about the wide spectrum of individual styles we have going on there, which is also why we might get a picture on the thread that does absolutely nothing for Yuca, but might get praised by others. I know I feel this way too. But unless there's something really wrong with the fit, colour coordination etc. I don't see much point commenting. It's horses for courses, isn't it.
Now to the outfit by our very own Captain, I really can't see how this is in any way comparable to the that mod bloke. I would argue that thee Captain's clothes are always fitting him well, his use of colour is as good as anyones, and he is good at ..ahem.. accessorising, something which I myself am not. More importantly, his style suits him exceptionally well. It might be a bit retro, but not enough to look out of place in this time and age. Unlike most other people on the clothing fora, he also seems acutely aware of the inherent ridiculousness of the practise of taking selfies and posting them over the internet for the privilege of other men. Hence the pose. Or perhaps it was gas, who knows, but maybe mr Madison would care to expand what he thinks doesn't look quite right in the said outfit?
