I have my eye on a short sleeved one in my size.
Its Blue and looks to be oxford.
Thanks for the info. Makes me wonder if there was any difference in tags between the regular and slim cut models?
Does anyone know when they started with Brooksgate?
It's in the Brooks book (which is crap btw). I'll check later but I think it was 72 - just before Watergate appeared, which really didn't help the name Brooksgate.
Keep in mind that Brooksgate shirts might not appeal to you. They were a slimmer cut and used a lighter weight oxford cloth. They also had shorter collar points and lacked a back box pleat.
The rise and fall of the Brooks empire.
Came across this on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Men-039-s-Vintage-Brooks-Brothers-Brooksgate-Yellow-Oxford-Buttondown-Shirt-15-32-/252961450944?
Looks like the Brooksgate shirts changed over the years, this one is 100% cotton, has a box pleat and fairly long collar points by the looks of it.
I know old news and discussed -- I can't quite muster the resolve to check the archives, but fuck me if it's hasn't become complicated to parse out the various Brooks shirts currently being offered.
Saw some great striped US made oxfords on their site. Wanted to pick a few up.
I'd always get the uni stripe in blue. I had one in red. Who knows where it is now. Thinking of more. It was always an either/or for me though. Blue or red stripe. Always favored the blue. Now thinking the red. It looks great with various browns and greens and tans that make up a good sport coat.
The label was different for the shirts you could custom order through the New York store in the late 2000s before they introduced the new Brooks oxford without collar lining and MOP buttons, and you could get a few unique oxford cloths. The label looked more like the older labels as I recall. I have one such shirt and will take a photo if I can find it.
Years ago, when I was young and naive, I came to this site and went on and on about Kamakura shirts being something new, an evolution, a future. I return older, wiser and chastened. Brooks Brothers Makers line my closet from side to side. Mostly white. Best shirt ever produced. I keep buying because I now know what the expression, "A comfort in my old age" means.

Not a label but relevant to prewar Brooks oxford cloth history. The bottom swatch looks closer to what they offer today but I'd like to have a shirt in the other shade as well.
