I would have thought this topic would have gone down well with the revolutionaries amongst us, but then I watched the latest posting from Pat Condell:

And realised, the unholy Alliance of the socialists and the jihadists is at play. Bash the fash, not half mate!
Almost all revolutions end in bloodshed and murderous atrocities. The only exception was the collapse of communism in the early 1990s.
That was a one-off, as Gorbachev opened the gates for freedom. He could have well stifled the situation in East Germany, if he had wanted to.
The hornet's nest of the Middle East and North Africa is all together different pressure cooker, but fortunately for us, the rivaly between the two sunni and shia camps will keep them bust fighting amongst themselves until they are exhausted or all dead. But if as Assad has stated, the situation in Egypt is the defeat of political Islam, then there may yet be the spark of hope.
The mainstream news has gone very quiet on Syria, I wonder why.
