The 50s British girls were more uninhibited of American girls?
I ask this because in that times in Italy,British girls were considered prude.
Oh. I'm sure the British girls were a bit prude compared to the yanks, probably up until the mid - '60s. But I really have no idea. I mean, the girls had bikinis over here. And short shorts. Not that dress always coincides with behavior. But there is a strong correlation. I don't want to say anything that could get me in trouble.

The political this or that makes the thread less enjoyable. Can't we stay on girls and food?

There's plenty wrong with the good ol' US but so much more right.
- A generally higher level of politeness (whether this is sincere or not its good, but I got the impression is was mostly genuine)
- Willingness to chat and ask questions
- Still places to listen to jazz and R&B
- Refills!
- Space!
Strange place America. Full of contradictions.
Like being the most religious of the western democracies yet the centre of its porn industry.
...a place of mythology, of the modern kind.
Gun crime is centralized in the urban cores of large cities, particularly in the south, rust belt, and west. In rural and suburban America, it is relatively rare. This despite a much higher percentage of gun owners in those areas.
In other words, if you are not involved with gangs or drugs in core urban areas, you're likely quite safe.
I think we are a more violent people... than Americans. Maybe this is because we don't regularly have the threat of being shot in the head. Casual violence really is a hobbyist thing in the UK
